Etwall & District Flying Club Presentation 2017

Etwall & District Flying Club held its annual prize distribution evening at the British Legion Club at Repton. Welcoming members and guests was Sam Phillips who was M.C. for the evening as our club president Jim Summers was unable to attend as he was not very well.  Sam gave a short speech thanking everyone for their efforts over the 2017 season. Then he gave a special mention to our secretary Alan Peach for all the hard work he has done and then congratulated Tony Whitehurst & Steve Billings on topping the fed.

Next he introduced our guest of honour for the evening Alys who has done a wonderful job driving our transporter during the 2017 season.

With the speeches out of the way it was on to the presentation.

First up was Shaw Brothers winning prize money of £7.14 followed by Steve Redfern winning a £10 special.

Mick Leszczyszak came next winning 3x2nds,1x4th,a £15 special and prize money of £43.46 making a total of £58.46.

Next came Sam Phillips winning 1x2nd,2x3rds & 2x4ths,yearling tankard,Norman Kellett shield & A & C Perry cup with total winnings of £154.51.

Dave Wiliams & Son came next winning 2x1sts,3x2nds,2x3rds,1x4th hens average trophy & Ladies race cup with total winnings of £226.76.

Mr & Mrs A J Whitehurst came next winning 8x1sts,4x2nds,2x3rds & 2x4ths, 2nd Breeder buyer with a youngster bred by Alan Peach,first channel race shield & silver horse shoe trophy with total winnings of £304.26.

Runner up for the 2017 season was Alan & Liz Houldsworth winning 7x1sts,9x2nds,13x3rds & 5x4ths G Childs shield, A.Peach memorial cup,Old bird inland average & P Bevin shield and total winnings of £531.41.

Ladies race winner was Dave Williams & Son.Second & third went to Willy Horton both receiving some nice crystal glass wear.

The members and officials would like to thank Ann Faulkner for the excellent buffet she prepared for the presentation evening. A big thank you to Sam Phillips for his role as M.C. for the evening and raising £95 running the raffle and everyone who brought raffle prizes and the people who supported it.

Also a big thank you to Alys who did a excellent job presenting the prizes and finally from all the members a big thank you to our hard working secretary Alan Peach for all all the hard work he puts in to make the club the success it is today.

The total payout for the season was £2286.08.
