Saturday July 17th and the Derby Burton & District South Road Federation were at Upper Heyford for the start of their young bird programme. In Kilburn Club three members sent 49 birds with Stewart Wainwright making it a clean sweep taking the first four positions with velocities of 1076,1073,998 & 991.

Saturday July 31st and the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation were at Cheltenham for the start of their young bird programme. The pigeons were liberated at 3-45 in a west wind. Leading the way into Derby was the Little Eaton loft of S & H W Hall who fly in the Osmaston Park Homing Society with 14 members sending 291 birds. Their winner was a cheq cock doing 1301 followed by a b/w/f cock doing 1297 taking second, then a cheq cock doing 1284 taking fourth. Having an excellent day and getting the icing on the cake taking the first two positions in the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation.( Well done Stan brilliant performance.) In third club and taking third fed were Paul & Lynda Todd with a cheq pied hen doing 1291 another excellent performance.

In Holbrook 6 members sent 191 birds with Mr & Mrs D Stone taking three of the first four positions. Their winner was a blue hen doing 1281 followed by a b/w/f cock and a cheq cock doing both doing 1280.1.Taking second was Kevin Mathews with a cheq cock doing 1280.

In Etwall & District Flying Club Willy Horton took the red card with a cheq hen doing 1233 with Alan & Liz Houldsworth in second & third with a red cock doing 1223 and a cheq hen doing 1221.In fourth with a blue cock doing 1191 was Steve Billings.

In Kilburn Club 2 members sent 67 birds with Keith Foulke getting a podium finish taking the first three positions. His winner was a dark cock doing 1226 followed by a slatey hen doing 1215 then a dark cock doing 1206.In fourth was Stewart Wainwright with a dark hen doing 1179.

Saturday August 7th and the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation were at Hullavington and the pigeons were liberated at 08-00 in a brisk south west wind.

Leading the way into Derby and getting the winner in Etwall & District Flying Club where 8 members sent 90 birds was the Chaddesden loft of Alan & Liz Houldsworth with a red cock doing 1815 which was bred by club mate Kevin Southall. This was followed by a cheq hen doing 1614 to take fourth. After a very frustrating trap their winner topped the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation. In second was the ever present A.Peach & Son with a b/w/f cock doing 1729 with Steve Billings taking third with a blue hen doing 1648.

In Holbrook 7 members sent 166 birds with Mr & Mrs D Stone making it a clean sweep taking the first four positions. Their winner was a blue cock doing 1733 followed by a b/pied hen doing 1732 then a cheq cock doing 1728 and a ch/pied hen doing 1727.

In Osmaston Park Homing Society 12 members sent 121 birds with Shenton Brothers ( Ron & Norman ) getting the red card with a cheq hen doing 1718 followed by last week's winner S & H W Hall with a cheq hen doing 1700.In third was Dave Waddington with a cheq pied hen doing 1649 with Paul & Lynda Todd in fourth with a red cock doing 1685.

The Derby Burton & District South Road Federation were at Marlborough and the pigeons were liberated at 07-10 in a south west wind. In Kilburn Club 2 members sent 42 birds with Keith Foulke taking three of the first four positions. His winner was a blue hen doing 1520 followed by two dark cocks doing 1278 and 1218.In third was Stewart Wainwright with a red cock doing 1232. 

Saturday August 14th and the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation were at Hullavington with the pigeons being liberated at 12-40 in a south west wind.

In Etwall & District Flying Club 8 members sent 112 birds with A.Peach & Son having a good day making it a clean sweep taking the first four positions with his winner well out in front, with a blue cock taking the red card doing 1479 followed by a blue hen doing 1372 then two grizzle hens doing 1325 & 1309.This was an excellent day for Alan as he also topped the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation rounding of an excellent day. ( Well done Alan ).

In Osmaston Park Homing Society 15 members sent 341 birds with the Little Eaton loft of S & H W Hall taking the first two positions with a cheq pied hen taking the red card doing 1378 followed by a blue cock doing 1253.In third were John & Steve Hicks with a cheq hen doing 1224 with Mick Fearn in fourth with a ch/w/f cock doing 1221.

Osmaston Park Homing Society also held their gold ring race with entries being down due to the heavy losses in the previous young bird races. With £625 to be flown for it turned out to be a good day for Glew & O'Donnell who got the winner, a red cheq cock doing 1151 winning £100.In second was Mick Fearn with a blue hen doing 1026 winning £85 followed by Simon Woolley in third with a blue hen doing 852 winning £75 and taking fourth was Brailsford & Doyle winning £60 doing 825 with other members winning lesser amounts. It was very well supported which is a credit to the members.

The Derby Burton & District South Road Federation were at Salisbury and the pigeons were liberated at 11-00 in a south west wind.

In Kilburn club 2 members sent 45 birds with Keith Foulke getting a podium finish taking the first three positions. His winner was a cheq hen doing 1325.5 followed by a dark cock doing 1325 then a dark hen doing 1323.In fourth was Stewart Wainwright with a dark hen doing 1321.
