GAZING AT 2014
by Jim Emerton
Olympic Ric, sadly deceased, crowned a year of glory for UK racing in 2013. I anticipate another great year as we have cemented our distinguished place in International racing, and this trend will continue under the dedicated jurisdiction of the BICC - with help from the BBC - at Barcelona. It has been a lofty aspiration of mine to extend International racing further and further north into Scotland and Ireland. Gradual progress will be made in this onerous and compelling objective. In the short term activity by the Midlands catchment area would be ideal, and create much enthusiastic interest.
In the purist of senses new champions will assert their prowess on the pigeon culture, and the media will give glowing recognition to those who prevail and their feathered charges. The beauty of the sport of pigeon racing is its openess to all, and with a dream, a desire and a will you can join the greats in the rich fabric of pigeon history. I think the secret is to enjoy what you do.
ps: to balance this article , what a performance at Tarbes NFC , in Yorkshire by the deserving Winters folk!!
