The Barcelona Pigeons J. Emerton 01-10-18

THE BARCELONA PIGEONS OF NICHOLAS HARVEY @ JIM EMERTON.
Based on my strain of 42 years which I proved from 71 to 879 miles Barcelona we send every bird 710 miles to Barcelona International. Since 2012 we are lucky to have clocked 8 times in race time flying into the far west of Taunton England, including any extra distance sustained in the long migration from Barcelona-it may be in excess of 900 miles sometimes. Without a tracker this is speculative!. One of our better birds of my strain, Musgrove Persistent has 6 Internationals to her credit,11th open BICC Barcelona and five times Barcelona in succession. In 2018 we were 1st Western Section BICC Barcelona. All our stock birds are marathon bred up to 1,035 miles, and we concentrate on our own Barcelona strain using a closed gene pool. We are not introducing any new and fresh bloodlines into the family in the future, as we have quality strength in depth. Some of these precious bloodlines are being made available by agent Craig Wilkinson of Middlewich and Chris Booth of Huntington. They are both nice and reasonable chaps and true hobby sportsmen. Jim Emerton.

SECTION K, L @ N Fanciers in the NFC.
I respect these fanciers for the distances they can put in at Tarbes-over 700 miles. They are in the catchment area to fly serious races in The BICC up to International level and in the BBC. Some great birds are produced in these races-famous pigeons to dedicated fanciers. In my strain, over 42 years I have infused the genes of the best of Brian Denney-related to mine,1 from Ken Hanby, 1 from Trevor Robinson, and 2 from Marco Wilson from section K of the NFC. They have all been focused back garden loft men with small teams flown on different systems. The essence is to get to know some of the top men in your geographical area. Some of the birds from such fanciers will be as good as any you will find in the world of pigeon racing. Jim Emerton.

STICHELBAUT-BASED STRAINS IN 2018
Often using the DVH Alois Stichelbaut based birds ,some good, modern custodians of the old bloodlines have seen the wisdom in cultivating, inbreeding and outbreeding using them as a gene pool. In the hands of some clever racing men they have done very well from sprint to marathon racing over 700 miles. Some of the names of the fanciers that spring to mind are Denney/Hanby/Harvey/Schlepphorst/Labeeuw/Wain/Walker and many others. Having used the old Stichelbaut lines myself from 71 to 879 miles they have produced some champion breeders and racers and I declare my great enthusiasm for birds of this origin and performance type. Jim Emerton.

STOP PRESS !
Harvey/Emerton are working on a closed gene pool and will no longer introduce any fresh bloodlines into the colony. For 9 years birds have been tested from sprint to marathon level at 710 miles Barcelona International . We are to focus and dedicate ourselves to the birds that have passed the acid test of race reality. We will inbreed to race performance characteristics in a concentrated experiment, whilst helping other people along the way. Jim Emerton.

MY 3 BOOKS ON PIGEON RACING NOW
They are doing rather well from Amazon with some sales as far as Australia/America/Canada and Saudi Arabia foe example. With nearly 1200 pages they cover all aspects of pigeon racing that are interesting, helpful and we need to know. It took me more than 60 years to study, research and learn of the fascination of racing pigeons and competitive sport. When I pass away, the precious books, as a legacy will indicate that I had a life in the sport on planet earth-I am sure that most people will enjoy them. Reviews in the main are five star, yet there are always people who need to criticise. Jim Emerton.
