Holdovers

 

I do not like these, because you anticipate liberation on a certain day. A perception of the race conditions is the parameter of the decisions, and sometimes it is born out by a pleasing race for the majority. Personally I take it all on the chin, as once the birds are liberated they are free to home or not irrespective of the conditions.

 

Some birds improve in the transporter and some deteriorate - it is the entire mysterious unknown that fascinates the mind of the racing man. Many transporters need modernisation with optimised environmental control, and I would like to see liquid feeding of the birds on board, and close attention to their welfare. Often people are intimidated by the potential flack from the blame game - extra punitive psychology in action.
