Albert Harley of Guernsey.
I’m very sad to inform the fancy that Albert Harley the Guernsey liberation site agent for many years passed away on Saturday 12th June. When convoying for the London & South East Classic Club I took the young birds to Guernsey 15 times over the years and became a good friends with Albert. He was without a doubt the best site agent I ever worked with, because he cared and nothing was too much trouble to help you produce a good race. He would get weather reports form Guernsey airport and on hold overs, Albert and his late wife, would bring Sunday dinner down to the liberation site for the convoyer crews. He did a lot of liberating for the main land England mid-week clubs who sent over to the island, including the East Grinstead Championship Club and the Worthing & Brighton MWFC. Albert as well as being a good pigeon racer, he liked the showing side of the sport and quite often sailed over to the mainland to attend or judge shows. Albert was a smashing man who loved his pigeons and his site agent job. Albert Harley RIP.
