Lanarkshire Federation - Otterburn Race
Well again this week was a race controllers nightmare. The weather all week was totally saying it was touch and go for pigeon racing this weekend.
Total cloud cover and heavy frequent showers on route.
We raced marked on Friday for Saturday race and that's what we got. As at 11 45am the strings were cut and racing from Otterburn in Northumberland ,England our 5,289 pigeons and another 17 crates from other clubs were liberated in a light south east wind with partial cloud and showers predicted on route. Well at around 13 15 the federation winner was being timed into the west section of the federation for Polockus & Feelie of Blantyre club.
The partnership timed two pigeons together to record 1st & 2nd West section,1st ,2nd Open federation 5,289
Joe Polockus (R) and Ryan Feelie winners of this week’s 1st Open federation
Their winner was bred by Performance Pigeons UK out of Janssen x Pouw brothers lines. Their 2nd Open was bred from pigeons gifted from their friend Anthony Coburn of Liverpool from his Hardy Kruger lines.
This week’s 1st West sect, 1st Open federation 5,289 for Polockus & Feelie, Blantyre club & 2nd Open federation for Polockus & Feelie
The winner was raced natural system and was just starting to drive his hen to nest the 2nd Open was sitting five day eggs.
Joe only gave his birds one trainer with federation transporter before first race and then loft exercise thereafter.
They were fed on Versela laga Superstar and Gerry plus with VL Champions for the more distance races.
They aren't racing YBs this year and have entered some into the Moray Firth one loft race with others going to friends.
Joe has named his winner "Kallan" after his new grandson who was born on Friday. So a very Special weekend for himself and family. Sometimes life is just great Joe and Ryan.
Well done to the partnership who have shown in the short time in the sport they can perform at the top level.
The partnership would like to thank John Short of Performance Pigeons UK and good friend Anthony Colburn for this eeks winners.
The race itself was a total success and although heavy frequent showers on route the convoy managed to get home safely with reports of excellent returns.
This week GPS track pigeon (An experienced 4yr old hen)can be seen on photo over shooting the home and ending up across the forth and landing somewhere in Stirling area(The battery thereafter ran out). She eventually returned later to her owner Kevin Docherty in Coatbridge .So lads don't condemn our feathered friends if they are late because this invaluable information shows some very interesting information about the whereabouts of the flight of birds in convoy.
This week’s tracker pigeon-read note for overview of where it ended up.
Well done again to our hard working race controller Paul Macaloney who puts his heart and soul into giving the birds every chance of success.
The greatest fanciers every to fly in Lanarkshire federation GWP Macaloney have announced they are holding and entire clearance sale with Northern Premiere Auctions in October/November 2023.This will be a great loss to our federation as they have set the bar for all racing into this area for decades. They contribute so much to the sport and will be sadly missed.
A Superstar sale of countless 1st Open federation winners.
Top team performance lofts this week include GWP Macaloney, Mio Krivokapic, Sharp Cummings Durning who all had a super race.
