Melton Mowbray is a town in Leicestershire, England, 19 miles (31 km) northeast of Leicester, and 20 miles (32 km) southeast of Nottingham. The town is on the River Eye and the River Wreake.

The town is best known for its culinary speciality, the Melton Mowbray pork pie, and it is one of the six homes of Stilton cheese.

The basketing was delayed for 24hrs due to poor weather on the Saturday.The weather on Sunday was to improve and the convoy of 2,350 birds and 9 Fauldhouse club baskets were away at 10am in a light North West wind.The winner into the federation took around 7 hrs 35 minutes for the 248 mile journey.

This weeks winner is Martin Hilley of Clarkston club.,Martins winner is a check cock of Tom McEwan x Patrick Bros lines and is a full brother to his 15th Open Alencon 2017 Blue hen.Appears to be a excellent line!

Well done to James & Gary Green of Burnbank club who are this years yearling derby winners.They are no strangers to the winners table and proved themselves one of the top lofts in the federation.Well done lads!

The race itself was a very difficult affair,with the poor weather on the North East Of England that was predicted to clear,didn't. So the pigeons had drizzle and mist to contend with for long period of the flight.So this had a significant impact!

All federations racing this line liberated ,so it was a difficult day for all. Birds worked in the next day,which was good as last year we wouldn't have seen them!.
