ROSE OF THE SHIRES
Sue & Nathan
Here's to the New Racing Season
We hope your all getting on your starting blocks for the first old bird race of 2009. It seems to have come around very swift again. We are looking forward to doing club write-ups again. We trust you all had a great breeding programme, and the cold weather didn't get to them. The weather always seems to get colder when there are babies in the nests! No doubt they are now like ours, getting brave and finding out what wings are for. It is a comical time until they get their act together. Taking off is one thing, landing without a crash is another.
Let's just pray the weather will be much kinder this season with fewer missing birds in action. We don't want one like last year-do we? There's only so much soggy B.B.Q nosh you can put up with, hmm!!
Things are getting in the swing for the new season. Desborough Club had their Breeder/Buyer on 28th March. The Fed Breeder/Buyer was held 3rd April, at Finedon Bowls Club. Mr Auctioneer was the one and only Alf Jones. Thanks to all who helped for both Breeder/Buyers, and to all the fanciers who gave support. With either or both events, not such a packed room, like a few year ago. The credit crunch has a lot to answer for, good nights had by all. Wellingborough North Road club had a friendly training chuck, from Melton Mowbray. With a wager on the side for the 1st home.
Andy (Do it all) Johnson, and young son Dennis won the £20 in the pot. This lucky duo also won a bag of corn, in the Fed Breeder/Buyer raffle. Not a bad start to the season-or "How jammie is that". Well done lads.
