ROSE OF THE SHIRES

Sue & Nathan

Alnwick - 22/06/08

Corby Town - Out of Corby Town 7 members sent 77 birds. Murphy Brothers took 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 6th club doing 1083/1082/1076/1061. R. Fairbairn took 4th club-1071. 5th club went to P. Phoenix doing 1070.

Wellingborough North Road - Out of W.N.R 6 members sent 45 birds. W.F.Line/Son/G.Son took 1st & 4th club places, doing 1116/1039. Laurel and Hardy's 1st club was bred from a pair Mick Smith gave them as young birds. This cock would have been 4th club last week, but Hardy tripped over his own feet and dropped the rubber. Their 4th club from Alnwick was bred from a pair of van Reets. This cock has been doing well all season, but finally snapped up his first card for them. Hopefully, it won't be the last. Club 2nd & 3rd went to Dave "Darn Good" Gent, doing 1111.79/1071. "Darn Good's" 2nd was Son of Tyson, who is doing him proud this O/B season. His 3rd was bred out Thurso's winning cock bird.

Congratulations to T. Head of Kempston for topping the fed from Alnwick.

Apologies to Paul Stevens for calling him Paul Martin in last week's report. Not only does Hardy have two left feet, he has senior moments to and gave me the wrong name.

Well, what a tough race for the poor loves this week. Battling the elements of our wonderful British weather. Isn't it supposed to be summer time?  It was more like back-end weather, him indoor's dressed like nanook of the north, to wait for his birds coming home. The wind punched you drunk just waiting, so how our poor birds must have felt, Lord only knows.

Fingers crossed that next weeks double race won't be such a battle for them. Less wind, no rain, and lovely sunshine on their backs - and ours too. A brighter race as the O/B season nears to the end for another year. Hope you all have a good race next week. Think positive and take care. Bye for now.
