Saturday July 13th and the Derby Burton & District South Road Federation were at Messac for the final old bird race and their blue riband event for the 2019 season. The pigeons were liberated at 06-30 in a light north wind.
In Kilburn five members sent 43 birds and topping his old bird season of in fine style was Keith Foulke who took three of the first four positions. Taking the red card was a two-year-old slatey hen doing 994 followed by a yearling red cock doing 961 in second and a three-year-old cheq hen doing 860 taking fourth. In third was Stuart Wainwright with a two-year-old blue hen doing 881.
Long Eaton club were at Ayrecliffe with the Notts Derby Fed where 4 members sent 43 birds. The pigeons were liberated at 10-30 in a north wind. Mr & Mrs David Lee came out on top doing 1632 also taking third doing 1629.In second & fourth was Mr & Mrs Naylor doing 1631 & 1628.
Saturday July 20th was the start of the young bird programme for the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation who were at Tewksbury with the pigeons being liberated at 09-40 in a south west wind.
In Holbrook four members sent 161 birds and taking the red card with a dark cheq cock doing 1668.4 was Rob Pearson followed by K. Mathews in second doing 1652.5 with a blue cock. In third were B & S Stone with a blue hen doing 1613.7 with Mr & Mrs Brian Neil in fourth with a white cock doing 1408.1.

In Osmaston Park Homing Society eight members sent 168 birds with Hall & Torry coming out on top with a blue hen doing 1656.0.In second was S & H W Hall with a blue hen doing 1646.6 with Mick Richardson taking the next two positions with a mealy cock doing 1645.4 and a blue hen doing 1645.1.

In Etwall & District Flying Club six members sent sixty nine birds with A. Peach & Son taking first & second with a blue pied hen doing 1534.3 and a blue cock doing 1522.1.In third & fourth was Sam Philips with a mealy cock doing 1517.0 and a red cock doing 1481.5.
