Derby Burton & District South Road Federation Messac 13-07-2019.

 

Saturday July 13th and the Derby Burton & District South Road Federation were at Messac for their final federation special race of the old bird season. The pigeons were liberated at 06-30 in a light north wind. What a weekend this turned out to be for Selston fancier Ralph Jepson. Ralph topping the fed with a yearling dark cock doing 1108.1 winning a gold medal and also winning the North Midlands Continental Classic race from Saints winning a gold medal with the only bird on the day. Two outstanding performances from an outstanding fancier. Congratulations Ralph. Taking second & tenth fed was Woodhouse members G.Jones & B.Proctor. Their first pigeon was a yearling blue cock doing 1098.9 with their next pigeon doing 1054.4.Taking the next five positions were all Woodhouse members with Mr & Mrs A Jackson in third with a with a yearling blue cock doing 1092.2 followed by B & C Brelsford & Son in fourth & fifth with a two year old blue hen doing 1091.5 and a two year old blue cock doing 1082.9.Steve Carder took sixth , seventh & ninth with two yearlings doing 1068.3 & 1058.0 and a three year old doing 1056.6. in ninth. In eighth were Poolsbrook members Jepson & Bennett doing 1057.9.

Club News.

 

In Selston club it was the double gold medallist  ( Ralph Jepson ) taking the honours with a a yearling dark cock doing 1108.1 followed by S & K Purdy in second & third with two yearlings. The first a cheq hen doing 1017.1 and the second a blue cock doing 994.7 with Monty Buxton in fourth with a three year old blue cock doing 992.5.

 

In Woodhouse  G.Jones & B. Proctor took the red with a  yearling blue cock doing 1098.9 with Mr & Mrs A Jackson in second with a yearling blue cock doing 1092.2.In third & fourth were B & C Brelsford & Son with two, two year olds. The first a blue hen doing 1091.5 followed by a blue cock doing 1082.9.

 

In Poolsbrook Jepson & Bennett came out on top with a two year old cheq cock doing 1057.9 followed by a two year old blue cock doing 1025.7 taking third. In second with a three year old dk/ch hen doing 1034.1 was M & L Herbert with Mr & Mrs Naylor in fourth with a three year old blue hen doing 987.0.

 

K & J Walker took the first two positions in Storey Arms with a yearling ch/pied cock taking the red card doing 1043.3 followed by a yearling blue cock doing 951.5.In third was B. Oakley with a three year old cheq cock doing 881.3 with S. Potter in fourth doing 869.4 with a two year old mealy cock.

 

In Kilburn club Ken Foulke gets three of the first four positions with a two year old blue cock taking the red card doing 999.4 followed by a yearling red cock doing 961.2 then a three year old cheq hen doing 860.9.In third was Stuart Wainwright with a two year old blue hen doing 881.0.

 

Railway Inn South winner was V. Mathews with a two year old cheq hen doing 988.0 with F & T Salt Brothers & Son taking second & third with a yearling cheq cock doing 924.5 and a four year old blue cock doing 840.4.

 

R.Slingsby took the red card in South Normanton with a two year old blue cock doing 981.7 followed by R.Black in second with a two year old ch/pied cock doing 939.4 with F & M Groom in third with a two year old blue pied cock doing 937.6.

 

 

D.Poole took the red card in Railway Inn North with a two year old blue cock doing 953.7 followed by V.Derricott & T.Poole in second doing 827.0 with a two year old blue hen.

 

In Three Ponds C. Bush took first & third with a yearling cheq hen taking top spot doing 897.9 followed by a yearling blue cock doing 878.0.In second & fourth was K.Bush with a yearling cheq cock doing 891.5 followed by a yearling blue hen doing 877.9.
