DERBY NOTES

Saturday May 4th and the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation were at Frome and the pigeons were liberated at 10-15 in a strong north wind with blue skies and plenty of sunshine.

 

 

 

In Etwall & District Flying Club ten members sent 164 birds and  it turned out to be a good day for the secretary  Alan Peach who flies as A. Peach & Son making it a clean sweep taking the first four positions .His winner was a two year old cheq cock doing 1265.5 followed by a two year old blue hen doing 1224.4 ,then a three year old b/w/f hen doing 1223.8 then a two year old d/w/f cock doing 1218.

In Osmaston Park Homing Society twenty members sent 305 birds with Mick Willis & Family taking the red card with a two year old blue cock doing 1265.4.In second was the Little Eaton loft of Mick Fearn with a yearling cheq hen doing 1265.0 followed by Mick Stone with a yearling cheq hen doing 1264.3 to take third with Mr & Mrs P Todd in fourth with a two year old cheq cock doing 1257.5.

Osmaston Park also held the first of their show races with Dave Waddington getting the winner with a three year old cheq cock doing 1252.In second was John & Steve Hicks with a two year old blue cock doing 1248 followed by Alan & Liz Houldsworth in third with a three year old cheq pied hen doing 1212 with Mick Stone in fourth with a two year old dark cock doing 1208.There was a total of £125 paid out to 13 members with the next show race on 25th May.

In Holbrook eight members sent 173 birds and B & S Stone came out on top with a three-year-old cheq hen doing 1256 taking the red card, followed by Trevor Jennings with a blue yearling hen doing 1228 to take second, and a yearling grizzle hen doing 1215 to take fourth. In third was D & A Swift with a four-year-old ch/pied hen doing 1222.

 

B & S Stone Holbrook winners.

 

 

The Derby Burton & District South Road Federation were at Newbury and the pigeons were liberated at 08-30 in a north wind with plenty of sunshine and clear blue skies. In Kilburn Club K. Fowkes gets the winner with a three-year-old dark hen doing 1172 followed by a three year old blue hen doing 1133 to take fourth. In second with a two-year-old blue cock doing 1158 was K. Cresswell with S Wainwright in third with a yearling cheq hen doing 1138.
