Selston Flying Club Presentation 2018.
Saturday November 3rd and Selston Flying Club held their annual prize distribution evening at the Marquis Ormonde public house in Losco. Presenting the prizes and guests of honour for the evening were Alan & Liz Houldsworth (T.3.).Before the presentation got under way members and guests sat down to a hot meal which consisted of beef or pork roast potatoes mashed potatoes peas carrots cabbage leeks stuffing balls and yorkshire pudding and gravy which was followed by a choice of desserts apple pie & custard, cheese cake, sponge pudding or chocolate sponge cake. Both courses were delicious and credit must go to the staff for providing everyone with such an excellent meal ( Thank You ).Before the presentation, club secretary Ralph Jepson gave a short speech how the club had progressed over the 2018 season and thanked the members for all their help making the club what it is today. He then asked Alan to present the prizes, who gave a short speech and asked everyone to raise their glasses to absent friends on the very sad occasion of the sudden passing of Kath Willis and earlier in the year federation president Jack Whitehouse then it was down to the presentation.

Top prize winner for the 2018 season with 4x1sts,6x2nds,3x3rds5x4ths plus 2x2nds & 1x3rd young bird exchange with total winnings of £260.37 was club secretary Ralph Jepson.

Runner up and top money winner with 4x1sts,2x2nds,5x3rds,2x4ths plus 1st,2nd & 3rd gold ring young bird race 200 mile trophy 250 mile galaxy trophy and winnings of £506.49 was Monty Buxton.

Next was Dave Willis & Family winning 5x1sts,2x2nds,3x3rds,3x4ths winning the Tullitt Sprint trophy and prize money opt £161.61.
B.A.Evans came next winning 1x1st,1x3rd,4x4ths plus 2x1sts & 1x3rd young bird exchange races winning a total of £108.98.

Next came S & K Purdy the top channel flier of 2018 winning 3x1sts,3x2nds,1x4th plus 1st £25 young bird nom winning both the 300 & 500 mile trophies and total winnings of £182.74.

Mr & Mrs D.Johnson were next winning 1x1st,2x2nds,3x3rds & 1x4th with total winnings of £83.24.

Next came Darren Hadfield winning 2x1sts,1x2nd,1x3rd & 2x4ths winning prize money of £73.46.

Carl Davey came next winning 1x2nd,1x4th plus 2nd young bird nom with winnings of £64.59.
Darren Oakley was next winning 1x2nd,1x3rd plus 1st & 2nd young bird exchange race with total winnings of £64.48.
Next was P & M Lloyd with 1x2nd,1x3rd 1x4th plus third £25 young bird nom with total winnings of £54.
Mr & Mrs H Jepson were next winning 2x2nds,1x3rd & 1x4th with total winnings of £44.07.
Next it was R & M Duffield winning 1x1st,1x13rd plus 3rd young bird exchange race with total winnings of £39.38.
Finally it was the turn of K.Greaves winning 1x4th and prize money of £4.90.

The total pay-out in prize money was £48 per race but with the enthusiasm the members have this will surly increase next year.
The standard of flying in this club is first class with Selston members wining 8x1st federations plus over 50% of South section prizes and on occasions taking all 20 positions in the section.
Secretary Ralph Jepson would like to thank the members for the many raffle prizes they bought along and all who supported the raffle and once again Darren Hadfield who did an excellent job raising £105 giving the club a good start to the 2019 season.
