LEARNING FROM NATURE.
Exposure to raw nature awakens you to the impact and power of the elements, and alerts the basic survival urges and instincts. Out in wind, sun, rain snow and fog, night and day is where I used to dwell as a young man, in deserts, wilderness, mountains, woods and seas. Wise to realise that racers can hit top form for distance/marathon races if they are given open loft-most of them will be wise to sparrow hawks, like feral pigeons which survive in their millions on a global level. If you can, and for good hard, natural condition fly your birds on open loft for alert contentment around home. I like country lads who do nature study, fishing, shooting, ratting and rabbiting in the big, wild outdoors-they often make good stock men.

HOW TO BECOME A WRITER
Born with the genetic potential to write, you must embrace life to the full in a profound and sensitive way. I have managed to engage my mind and senses in around 60 countries and islands on planet earth. Eleven years of study in academia, cultivated the discipline to churn out essays, articles and projects. Now a specialist writer for Mensa, I have benefited by studying Rogets Thesaurus, and the great writers of the past. In reality creative writing can be a compulsion from a hyperactive brain ,that has been super stimulated from the deep brain as a result of sensory overload. The essence is to sit down and let the unconscious psyche flow into the conscious intellect, under the discipline of a controlling ego. In my long life ,I have relished writing in a prolific stream of diverse subjects ,including 16 for Mensa, and my 8 books from Philosophy to Poetry to Pigeon racing are read across the world. It is a self-indulgent, introverted activity with an objective and tangible result, and I love it all to the point of euphoria.

PERSONALITY AND COMMUNICATION.
In my life I have met an enormous number of people ,in a rich diversity of contexts from London to the roof of the world. I pride myself on being able to chat to or otherwise communicate with so many types of humanity. Traits required are sensitivity, empathy and great self confidence in personal relationships. A bold ,audacious charm may smooth the process. The corollary is that psychological classification theories and processes are exactly that, and are tools of academic and practical convention, and I believe that a complex, differentiated, mature psyche is too enigmatic, deep and profound to classify. The exact nature of human personality and consciousness remains nebulous-I like it that way, especially the mystical elements of the human psyche.

SERVING THE SPORT WELL-PAY BACK TIME.
To balance out a selfish, result motivated pigeon racing career, there are things you can do. Make a film, write a book, some articles and mentor other people in the fancy. Imparting knowledge is essential to the welfare and future of the game, as the market is awash with nicely bred birds. The icons are there because they are clever at practical pigeon racing-its methods and systems, to produce great condition on the birds. Good birds alone, will never make you a champion flier, as it starts in the mind of the fancier. I have helped to develop various studs, which is pleasing. The best way to serve the sport is to speak and write well of others, when jealousy rears its ugly head.

SPRINT PIGEONS
These birds are the product of competitive racing methods and systems as are distance and marathon birds. There are NO pure sprint strains, due to genetic variability and diversity-the fancier makes a sprinter by total management, as birds of many strain names will sprint-my strain of related birds won from 71 to 879 miles. Put your birds on a regime and see what they can do at different distances -as far as you wish up to marathon level over 700 miles. Some of my birds like Dark Dedication scored from sprint to marathon level, yet some are out and out marathon birds. Every pigeon is an individual with a unique performance profile in race reality. Returns to the loft taper off after around 750 miles, and UK 800 milers are becoming rare, especially from Barcelona International-
