Hi all, my name is Gavin Cooper and I will be writing over the coming season a short report for the Warwickshire & District federation. This will include the first 3 birds timed in from each club. Hopefully throughout the closed season we can visit each loft that tops the fed and post a loft visit with a few select questions. On Saturday 13th May 2023 1,162 Birds sent by 64 members birds were liberated at Darlington (4242) at 12.15 into a light northeast wind by convoyer Paul Bakewell the birds cleared very well.

Dunchurch RPC saw Tim Atkin take the first 3 positions 1st a 2 yr old pied cock doing 1579 bred from a son of Charlene paired to a g-daughter War Drum x Rhiannon 2nd a 2yr old blue hen doing 1548 from brilliant son of Kanon paired to Jeff Greenaway hen responsible for multiple winner’s 3rd a 4yr old blue hen doing 1531 from a son of Kanon x daughter of Brave these are all flown on Tim’s very own widowhood system.

Syston FC 1st place went to Gavin Cooper doing 1563 with a yearling blue hen Soontjen x JPS Lambrecht flown on roundabout. 2nd Mick Thorpe last weeks fed topper with his faithful 5 yr old white grizzle cock doing 1546 flown on widowhood 3rd was Gavin Cooper with a 2yr old blue cock SVR doing 1543 again flown on roundabout.

East Leake FC the in-form loft of Rafal Barutowicz takes this first 3 spots 1st a 4yr old hen who is Van Loon x Ad Schaerlaeckens doing 1548 2nd a 2yr old hen Ad Schaerlaeckens x Vandenbeele doing 1547 3rd a 2yr old hen Koopman x Van Lint doing 1547 All these hens are flown on widowhood.

Church Road FC top spot went to Malcolm Evans with a 2yr old red cock doing 1486 2nd place was Neil Roberts with a 3yr old pied cock who is a Cooreman flown on semi widowhood doing 1470 3rd Dave Woods with a 3yr old black cock flown natural which is a mixture of Dave’s old fashioned distance birds doing 1414.

Nuneaton progressive RPC taking the first prize Lloyd & Grandson with a yearling cheq cock who is Steffan Lambrecht on the widowhood system doing 1591 2nd Paul Robinson with a yearling blue hen flying roundabout her sire is from Geoff Farmer and her dam through Mick O’Rourke Gert Lambrecht doing 1527 3rd place was Tony Brown with a yearling dark cock flown on widowhood who is a Soontjen at 1516.

Trent Valley House HS in first place John Gilbert with a 2yr old mealy cock is from Pat Frisby stock which pat gave John when he stopped racing originating from Ian Cameron doing 1571 also in 2nd place John Gilbert with a 4yr old Blue Pied hen Vandenbeele which is always one of the first birds in john’s clock at 1569, John has said since turning north he is really enjoying the racing and has had great reruns with minimal losses 3rd spot was Mo Ayaz with a yearling blue cock which was brought as a yb in a racing kit of Busschaert doing 1453.

Shipston On Stour IFC All 3 positions taken by Gavin Duggan 1st is a slatey yearling cock who is a Jan Aarden cross doing 1468 2nd is a cheq hen 1458 and 3rd a yearling cheq hen both Gavin’s own family of birds all flown on a roundabout system.

Southam & District IFC saw Keith Arnold make it a second win form 3 races with a 3yr old SVR hen raced spare in the young bird loft doing 1509 2nd place was Meitek Kwasny with a blue yearling hen flown on roundabout doing 1411 Pete Bicknell takes 3rd with a yearling blue cock which was bred from pigeons from his friend Derek Smith doing 1349 again flown on roundabout system, Keith tells me that the members have suffered heavy losses with the south birds not turning too well to north road racing.

Appley Magna HS 1st place was Bernard Bodell with a yearling blue cock flown on the natural system doing 1490 2nd was Walla Bailey & David Harrison flying as Litherland Bailey & Harrison in recognition of Walla’s late father in law Tommy this yearling blue hen is a daughter if his van den Buick German cock that is grandsire to many winners she is flown on the roundabout system and was doing 1483 in 3 races on the north she has scored 2 x 3rd and now a 2nd prize in 3rd position Mr & Mrs Passey & Family with a yearling blue hen flown on the widowhood system her breeding is Geoff Kirkland snake lines x Flor Engles and she has already won the first Wakefield race.

Adderbury FC  1st place goes to John Hambridge with a blue cock on widowhood doing 1487 2nd is Buzz Murrey clocking a roundabout blue cock at 1466 and 3rd place is again John Hambridge with a dark cheq widowhood cock doing 1452.

Ashby & District FC 1st  & 2nd places go to G Chaplin & Sons with a yearling doing 1512 & 1498 3rd position D Fantom with a 3yr old doing 1481.

We would like to say a thank you to our Convoyer Paul Bakewell doing a great job of looking after our birds long may it continue.

Congratulations to Albert Lloyd & Grandson for topping the fed and well done to all on the sheet. Best of luck for the coming weeks racing 20/5/23 will again be a race from Darlington.
