TUTBURY F.C. PRIZE PRESENTATION

Saturday November 21st saw Tutbury flying club hold their annual dinner and prize presentation, at their headquarters, the riverside hotel in Burton on Trent.

Members; family and guests sat down to a lovely three course meal, with a male solo singer providing excellent entertainment throughout the evening

Secretary John Sheasby said a few words, thanking the club officials for their sterling work throughout the year.

I was privileged to be asked to present the prizes; I remarked how Tutbury have emerged as one of the top clubs in the federation, only Hill Ridware sending more pigeons this season. It was also lovely to see such a good turnout, enjoying a sit down meal, with entertainment thrown in as well, well done Tutbury.

The Richardson Family - Premiere prize winners 2015

First up were P & S Harrison, they won £26 prize money; and also picked up £150 as winner of the clubs breeder buyer race. The breeder of the winning bird was Joe Marks, who also won £150.

Next up were Ron Dakin & son, Ron won Carentan (1) and £331 prize money.

Mr & Mrs Budd were next; Richard and Chrissie won the channel averages; the Messac cup and £37 prize money.

Richard “Nobby” prestige was next to be called up, Nobby won £49 prize money.

Phil Whetton made a comeback this year only racing the YB season, Phil won £51 prize money,

Mick sale won 3rd prize in the breeder buyer winning £31 and also picked up £53 prize money, a total of £84.

Next was Albert Babington, but Albert was in hospital after having a hip replacement the day previous, Albert won £74 prize money. Get well wishes to Albert from all the members.

Now to the top three, and Pete & Jackie Cox were third, winning £174 prize money; £50 as runner up in the breeder buyer, total winnings of £224.

Runners up in 2015 were Sheasby & Watson; they won the ob point’s trophy; and the ob of the year shield. They also picked up £187 prize money and £50 for runners up in the breeder buyer race. Total of £237.this was their last season in competitive racing, John only has a few old favourites at home now, he is hoping to breed a few to enter into breeder buyer and futurity races, all being well? Good news for the club is that John is carrying on in his role as secretary.

Top prize winners for 2015 were F. Richardson & son, aka the Richardson clan, or Stan and co. They won the following silverware; the inland average; YB average; longest YB race; YB points; YB of the year; and the Tommy Nicklin shield for 1st Kingsdown YB;  also picking up £275 prize money.

The club the presented my wife Linda with some flowers, a lovely thought, much appreciated.

The rest of the evening was spent enjoying the cabaret, taking a break for the raffle and the heads or tails game for the hamper, won ironically by Stan Richardson.
