ROB HORTON OF TAMWORTH IN DEVASTATING FORM OUT OF KINGSDOWN WITH HIS YOUNGSTERS.

Saturday September 19th saw the final race of the 2015 season, the YB special race out of Kingsdown. After a murky start to the day patience was a virtue, and our race controller Alan smith gave the ok to liberate late morning onwards. 73 members entry of 940 birds were released at 12-00 in no wind; blue skies and sunshine. It was a marvellous race, with the in form lofts totally dominating the result. Three lofts took 20 out of the top 21 positions, this is how YB racing is nowadays, darkness youngsters then put on the light system and trained hard all the way through the season, it’s a lot of hard work to obtain results like this, all I can say to the fanciers’ concerned is congratulations.

Rob Horton of the Belgrave club in Tamworth had an unbelievable season last year with his youngsters, along with Rob Pearson up at the Bulls Head.  2015 had not reached the heady heights of last year for Rob, but he had still managed to take 1st and 2nd Fed out of Hullavington and Blandford, but out of Kingsdown he went up another level, taking the first eight on 1573; 1572.9; 1572.6; 1571.5 (2); 1571.3; 1571.0; 1570.8; timing in the eight birds in 14 seconds, the winner a cheq. cock, followed by seven cheq. hens. Add to this, rob picked up £347-50 with his third bird, and another £247-50 with his ninth bird in 16th spot, winning a grand total of £595-00 in pool money alone, fantastic flying. Completing the top ten were Elmore & Smith of Birch Coppice, Alan and Dean timed in a Jansenne Van den Bosche cock, and a Cuester hen to take 9th & 10th fed on 1570.6; 1567. They also picked up £22-50 with a later timing.
