CORK FEDERATION
by Neil Crean
The fed race form Penzance was held on Wednesday 6th June. The birds were convoyed to the race point by the Irish South Road Federation. The forecast was not good; heavy rain fell all the way to Penzance up until 10am when the skies cleared. After checking with Mick O’Driscoll, convoyer John Heffernan was given the go ahead to liberate at 10.15 into a south west wind. It proved to be a wise decision as there was another rain belt coming from the west later in the day. The race velocities were decent enough and returns into Dublin were good. The first bird into Cork was doing 1200 yards per minute and dropped to myself at 14.35 to win the fed - the bloodlines were Janssen from the late Eddie Wright and the full sister to the winner was 1st Club, 2nd Fed Stirling on the North Road so the breeding is good.
Winner of 1st Fed
