The Cork Racing Pigeon Federation was formed in 1967, 50 years this year. The late Michael Dennehy played a big part in the formation of the Fed by allowing the race birds to be marked in his store which was appreciated by the Fed members.

He also persuaded the late Paddy Callaghang to be Secretarty to get the Fed up and running and the late Billy Cunneen was Chairman.

The Dennehy Family was very involved in the game of soccer as well as pigeon.

The late Miah Dennehy (nephew of Michael) was the first player to score 3 goals in a FAI Cup Final. He also played international football of Ireland. Michael's son Liam as well as being a wonderful singer played League of Ireland football with Cork Celtic.

Michael Junior as well as being a good pigeon fancier was an execellant footballer so the Dennehy Family were a very talented one.

The Fed raced the North Road in those days, when the goods trains were stopped carrying and conveying the birds were done by trasnporter.Nowdays France and southern English racepoints has also seen some great cork performances including a few national wins.
