Cork Area News
The Cork Federation has now put a plan into place for the 2021 season , a vote by all members gave a result of a north road programme for young and old birds this year with the Old bird programme prioritised for Sunday racing where possible the programme is listed as follows:
Weekend of May 1st Horse & Jockey
Weekend of May 8th Durrow
Weekend of May 15th Portlaoise
Weekend of May 22nd Mullingar
Weekend of May 29th Monaghan
Due to the uncertainty of the ability to race from Scotland or Northern Ireland the remainder of the programme is yet to be confirmed. All races will be marked for an overnight race. Federation fees remain unchanged for this year and any local clubs wishing to apply are welcome to do so by contacting the secretary.
Our federation treasurer Anthony Bulman has done trojan work since taking office last season. His father John was one of the men to beat from any racepoint in years past. Although Anthony now looks after the finances of our Federation he is no stranger to success and now he has his grandchildren helping out , his wife Vickey has always helped him on race days and was regularly seen in the clubhouse. Anthony’s brother in law Noel Hegerty was also our Fed treasurer and Noel's Daughter Chloe is a regular clock setter in the Cork Southern Pigeon Club so for this family pigeons are running through their veins. Anthony had a fantastic season in 2019 winning the federation from Hamilton in Scotland with a pigeon bred by himself but the father of this bird was bred by his late friend MC Murphy who ask Anthony for a ring when a young bird hatched out in the loft little did he know he would sire his federation winner now called MC the Cock won 1st federation 6th Eire National.
Till next time
Keep them flying.
