JOHN TRIMBLE & SON WIN 1ST OPEN BUDE & BUDE Classic

The 2nd Cross Channel race for the East Down Combine was from Bude in Cornwall, due to be flown on Saturday June 7th but once again the weather intervened, and it was decided to go for Sunday June the 8th when release took place at 7.15 into a light variable wind. The Derek Wishart Mallow race was held on the same day but because of all the events to report on this will be the subject of the next article.

 

Bude saw a race with the winner doing just over 1500ypm and open velocities ranging from this down to the 1300’s but the open winner was to the Annalong loft of John Trimble and son who are enjoying a really outstanding season with their name featuring regularly in the results they also won the East Section and the Bude Classic with this bird and had a further four birds in the Open result, Crossgar’s Joe McGreevy was next and topped the West Section and these are the races Joe looks for each year and is very successful at.

 

Jackie Crossan was 3rd Open, first club, second section and also 2nd Open in the Bude Classic and Jackie’s pigeon was Poortvliet cross Veenstra cock and here again this is loft consistently featuring this year in the open result. Also never far from the top at 4th Open was Ballylesson’s John Patterson .

Dominic Croskery

I was saddened to learn of the recent death of Dominic Croskery the senior partner in the Annsborough partnership of D Croskery & son and the father of Michael, Caroline, Stephen, Manuel, Dolan & Mary and husband of the late Josephine who sadly predeceased him in December of last year. I met Dominic on a number of occasions over the years and always found him to be quiet spoken gentleman who along with Josephine and Dolan were a formidable loft to beat. Brother Michael also races very successfully and the Croskery name is well known and widely respected in the pigeon world. To the entire family circle, I extend my deepest sympathy at this time.
