East Down 2bird Dinner

The East Down 2bird club?s Dinner and Annual Prize distribution will be held on February 12th in Magee?s Lounge in Crossgar , tickets are £13 each and can be obtained from Dorothy Smyth . The time is 7.30pm for 8pm and a full list of winners for 2015 will follow . This is always a very enjoyable evening and once again Dorothy Smyth has put a lot of work into organising this evening .
The club?s AGM will be held in the same venue on the following Monday the 15th February at 8pm and I would encourage all members to attend if possible .

2016 Combine Breeder /Buyer

The East Down Combine are again running this very popular event and the date for the sale is Friday April 1st and again it will be held in Magee?s in Crossgar with the starting time being 8pm . Last year this event raised a very impressive £2,760 for the 60 young birds with the winning breeder and buyer each receiving £690 ,a prize worth winning .

Tommy McComb memorial Sale in aid of Alzheimer &Parkinson Societies

Bobby &Paddy McComb are organising a charity sale on 11th March in Magee?s Lounge in Crossgar as a memorial to their relative Tommy McComb with the funds raised going to the above Societies .The sale starts at 8pm and there will be approximately 35 lots for sale and this will include birds from the following lofts Ron Williamson , N Black & sons , Gregg Bros & McCandless, Joe Brown, McCartan & Woodsides , Jim Braniff, J & D Braniff , R Moore & son , R & L Barr (North Coast Classic winners ) McKinistry Bros , G Douglas , Owen Markey, Bingham & Seaton , K Rooney & son, M Croskery, D Croskery & son, C & D Smyth & sons , J Hall & son , A Kit of 6 Young Birds from McComb Bros .

Once again this week it is my sad duty to report the death of two fancier?s wives.

Mary Woodside

Mary Woodside , wife of Liam Woodside ,mother of Darren Woodside and sister of Paul McCartan has died after a period of illness , courageously borne . On behalf of the pigeon fraternity can I extend our sympathy to Liam, Darren and Paul and the wider family circle at this time on their sad loss.

Freida Cheevers

I also have sadly to report the death of Freida Cheevers wife of Frank Cheevers who died on the 23rd of January at the Quoile Nursing Home and we extend our deepest Sympathy to Frank and the family circle at this very sad time .
