Sam Regan wins Open from Bude
The East Down Combine were in Bude in Cornwall on Sunday 11th June ,having left Ireland on the Friday with a view to a possible liberation on the Sunday ,the weather for Saturday being not suitable for a liberation ,Sunday however was a different day and the birds were away at 10am into a SSW wind which saw again some very fast velocities with the winner of the open and East Section being Ballywalter’s Sam Regan on 1995 ypm with the Millisle partnership of R Strain & son next on 1852 ypm and then back to Ballywalter for 3rd which was to J Orr & son on 1845ypm .Ballynahinch’s C Lavery & son win in the West Section on 1772 ypm with Crossgar’s Joe McGreevy next on 1767 ypm .
Now some details of the winner from Bude, he a 3 year old roundabout cock named “Shoreline Phoenix” he is a previous winner last year from Skibbereen and Talbenny. The Breeding is mainly Sam’s own old Cattrysse family with a Lambrecht cross added several years ago to put some pace into what was a very inbred family. Both his parents were winners the sire “Shoreline Kodi” was 2nd open E.D.C. and 14th. Open I.N.F.C, and the dam “Shoreline Dusty” a Section & Fed winner from Navan E.D.C.. Sam would like to take this opportunity to thank all those Fanciers for their congratulations and to D.L. Jones and wife Eirleys of North Wales for supplying the Lambrecht's over many years.
In 2nd open the Millisle partnership of R Strain & son timed a blue w/f 5yr old Jan loots hen. She was sent sitting on eggs which were due to hatch that day and she has already flown France 3 times but never been in the prizes! She is a half sister to the hen they were 4th open with last week.
