Cowan & McCartney win Penzance & Penzance Classic
The Penzance Classic held in Conjunction with the Penzance race was flown on Sunday the 19th July having again to be rescheduled because of the weather and with the convoy having a Northerly wind to contend with for the 300mile journey the velocities reflected this with the winners of both the classic and the ordinary club race being for the second year in succession that very successful loft from Dundonald of Rob Cowan & George McCartney have won these two events and are the current holders of the 2019 Fanciers of the Year award .Last year was a completely different type of race with the winner doing over 1500ypm as opposed to this year where only the top three birds broke the 1000ypm mark . A total of 1281 birds were competing in this Penzance race with 807 of these having been entered in the classic and with an 8am liberation the birds were flying for most of the day .
Runners up in both events were the Bangor partnership of Burgess & Brennan who have been enjoying a successful season and recorded their 2nd arrival to win 6th Open . In 3rd place is the Portavogie partnership of Young & McCormick who also won the 2bird club .
John Trimble and Grandson Zac continue to have a most marvellous season ,this week being 4 th Open in both races and the first nominated bird in both open and Section also in both events . Dundonald’s Mark Foulis completes the top 6 with the full results of both races Open , section & nominated as follows :
