East Down Combine News
with Clifford Browne
August 15th saw the East Down Combine back in Tullamore and with East still in the wind it was a similar race to that from there the previous week although with a little North in the wind the velocities were just that much lower. Waiting for suitable weather for a liberation saw the birds away at 1.45pm and again it was the clubs in the West section of the Combine which got the first birds with Dundonald’s Mark Foulis winning 1st & 2nd Open 1st & 2nd West section and the Ballylesson lofts of Cousins ,McConaghie & Albert 3rd and Clubmates S Casement & Son 4th with the top six in both Open and West Section being completed with two to the Crossgar partnership of McCartan & Woodsides .West Section birds had the first 34places in the Open and it was over to Bangor for the East Section winners with Reggie & David Moore taking the top three here and Cliff Stewart the next two with Clougheys Gordon Bros & Sons completing the top six in the East section .
