Gordon Bros & Sons 1^st & 2^nd Open Horse & Jockey

For the 5^th Young Bird Race the East Down Combine were back at the Race point near Thurles (The Horse & Jockey ) . The variable August weather once again was unsuitable for a Saturday race so the race was rescheduled for Sunday with the birds being race marked on the Saturday evening and they were released on Sunday morning at 9.30am into a West wind which saw the leading birds making over 1900ypm . This saw the clubs out on the East Coast having the early birds with Gordon Bros & Sons having a great race with 1^st & 2^nd open with a further 10 birds in the Open result . C & H Cully were 3^rd open ,Harper & Young were 4^th Open both lofts belonging to the Cloughey club and the East section . The East section dominated winning all 40 Open places .

Top six places in the West Section were to members of the Crossgar club with Alex & Anne Cheevers winning 1^st ,3^rd & 4^th West Section ,Joe McGreevy was 2^nd and McCartan & Woodsides were 5^th & 6^th .
