Moores win Talbenny Derby & Gordons win Macroom Derby
The East Down Combine had two Derby events on Saturday September 12th . The Talbenny cross channel and the inland Macroom Derby . I have the full result of the Talbenny Derby which saw the Bangor partnership of Reggie Moore & son with the winner and some details of this blue hen are that she had flown the majority of the young bird programme prior to basketing.
She is from a son of the “Ceusters Cock” the Moores current No.1 breeder bred by A. Devlin when paired to a double grand dtr of Dirk Van Den Bulcks famous “Kittel” from Jason Bateman, Bristol. The “Ceusters Cock” had been sire of 1st Club, 1st Section, 35th Open Tullamore for them and Grand Sire of 2 x 1st East Section Nominated wins for Lambert & Stewart this year in the young bird programme prior to the Derby Win. Her dam is a daughter of two pigeons direct from J. Kirk of Warrington from his Stefan Lambrecht’s family containing some of the best Dirk Van Den Bulck lines including “Donkere Leo” “Blauwe Leo” “Kliene Dirk”. Reggie & David would like to take this opportunity to once again thank John Kirk, Alan Devlin & Jason Bateman for their breeding influence in this hen.
John Patterson of Ballylesson was 2nd Open from Talbenny
with Matt McCabe of Crossgar in 3rd and 4th place and more details on these will follow as all three lofts have enjoyed a great season so look out for more on these lofts over the coming weeks .
The Talbenny birds were released at 8am into a mainly Westerly wind which had the top 6 placed birds all making over 1300 ypm and the full result follows .
Meanwhile the inland Derby saw the convoy released at 9am into a south westerly wind with the winners reaching over 1900ypm and heading the field once again it was Gordon bros & Sons so scroll down to read more of this lofts phenomenal season .

And what a days racing for the Cloughey partnership of Gordon Bros & Sons who in addition to winning the Open in the Macroom EDC Derby also on the same day racing from Tullamore with the NIPA took the top 25 places in the open when the NIPA had an entry of 6,500 birds and there was only just under 6ypm between the Gordons First bird and their 25th with the velocities in the 2180’s add this to the 4 x1st opens in the EDC Combine and you can appreciate just how good this loft’s performances are . They were also 19th East Section on the same day from the EDC Talbenny Derby . Some of their top performers over the last few weeks were a cheq hen which won the EDC twice in 3 weeks, i.e. 1st Open Horse & Jockey and 1st Open Mallow.
A cheq cock which won 1st open from 2nd Horse & Jockey and the
red hen which wins 1st Open Macroom Derby and was 10th open from Mallow the previous weekend having been beaten by 9 loftmates
The bloodlines of the Gordons recent open winners are from their Vandenbulk/Best Kittel/Heremans family of birds.
Again it was Cloughey and Portavogie on the Combines East Coast which fared best from Macroom . The nominated result from this race was :
