East Down 2bird News (continued)
Despite the late start and the restrictions which applied throughout the 2020 season the East Down Combine 2 bird club did in fact have another good season albeit a shorter one. The membership for the year was just over 80 and the season started on June 7th with the first race of the season from Tullmore. In the previous article we had a look at the league winners. With most of the main cups and trophies being for the Derby & Classic races and for the various averages and it was Mark Foulis who won no less than 3 Cups, these being for the Old Bird Channel Average, The Old Bird Knockout & Old Bird Combined average.
Also winning three Trophies was that ever young fancier John Patterson who won the Old Bird Inland Average, The Old Bird of the Year cup and the 50th anniversary cup .
The 2020 EDC Fanciers of the Year B Hogg & Sons won cups for the 2nd Channel race and the 2nd Skibbereen YB Derby
with Gordon Bros & sons winning both the Young Bird Average and the Combined Average cups the full list of cup and trophy winners is:

BRIAN FOULIS
It is with great regret that I have to report the death of Brian Foulis on the 30th December 2020 after a short illness borne with great fortitude. Brian was a dedicated fancier and had achieved throughout his racing career many notable successes from all distances and even this past season had won the 2bird trophy from the 2nd race from the Horse & Jockey as well as Combine Open positions from Tullamore to Talbenny. On behalf of all who had the privilege of knowing Brian can I extend my deepest condolences to his wife Ellen, and the wider family circle at this very sad time.

As we start a new year can I wish Everyone a Happy and Safe New Year and at present the prospects for the 2021 season are unsure and we now have the added problem of Bird Flu and the restrictions this imposes. Meantime I welcome EDC news from club members.
