GORDONS TAKE TOP 9 FROM TULLAMORE
Saturday 31st July saw the East Down Combine in Tullamore for the 3rd Young Bird race of the season and it was the East coast clubs of Cloughey and Portavogie which had the Lion’s share of the early places . That said a look around the club results shows a wide range of velocities and such was the erratic nature of the race that for this week as I write this the Combine Committee have opted to go to the slightly shorter racepoint of Mullingar instead of the scheduled Tullamore, but back to last weeks race . The birds were released at 9.15am into a NW wind and it was Cloughey’s Gordon Bros & Sons who took the first 9 Open and East section places with the birds arriving together . The winner is A Mealy Cock winning 1st open EDC and he is Dirk van den Bulck bloodlines of OLYMPIC KITTEL 006. 
The Blue wf hen. was 3rd open EDC , and she was also 17th open Navan. Also in the first 3 races she has won 2x1st and 1x3rd in the EDC 2 bird club, and 3 times winner of single bird nom. She is a granddaughter of Leo Heremans 030.
Harper & Young also Cloughey were 10th open with the Rooney family in Annalong slipping in one for 11th before Harper & Young had 5 more arrive to take the next five places.
The Belmont club have enjoyed a great season with the Combine and it was the loft of D & L Jackson & dtrs which topped the West section followed by Jim Young & ptnrs of Dundonald with Newtownbreda’s Tom Marshall & son 3rd The full result was;

SAM REGAN AND SAM DUKE WIN THE 2021 MERITORIOUS AWARDS
In 2020 Ballywalter’s Sam Regan won the cocks Meritorious award for Talbenny , Bude and Penzance this year he won the Hen’s award with Combine Secretary Sam Duke winning the medal for the cock bird . Sam Regan has forwarded on some details of his two winners Both pigeons have had the same channel club performances each winning Talbenny and Bude and second from Penzance and are home bred in Sam’s Shoreline lofts they are Cattrysse cross and include Lambrecht blood which came from his very good friends of many years David and Eirlys Jones from Llandudno in North Wales and Sam extends his thanks to them both for the many great pigeons he has received from them over this time. Also Sam extends his congratulations to Sam and Karen Duke on winning the 2021 award for the cock bird . Sam is the East Down Combine 's very hard working Secretary and also treasurer , a great worker for the organisation and a worthy winner.
