The Welsh North Road Federation

The Welsh North Road Federation held its sixth young bird race of the season from Harrogate in West Yorkshire the birds were also on the liberation site with the Welsh North Road National flying club & the South West of England Lerwick Club and all these birds were all liberated up together on the 18/9/21 at 9.30 am into a light south west wind.

The top ten positions were as follows and the young bird specialist of Anthony Buttigieg & Son secured the top spot again claiming 1st & 7th federation flying 178 miles with velocities of 1310 & 1287. The winner a blue darkness flown hen on the sliding door system that was bred by Derek Nicholls of The Premier Stud and is named Miss Gee as her father is Blue Gee a son of Griepel and mother a daughter of Kittle and this partnership have bred winners before when mated and tested at the stud and the following bird for Anthony was also a Herman Cuesters bred by Derek Nicholls of the Premier Stud.


Fisrt Fed Harrogate

Taking 2nd, 3rd & 5th federation was Chris McCarthy flying 183 miles with his team of darkness flown young birds left together all three birds for Chris were bred by Derek Rooney and are the Best of Kittle birds Chris’s velocities were 1309, 1308 & 1289.

4th federation was Terry Hayward flying 184 miles with a Leo Van Rijn from Brian Hawes stock flown on the Darkness sliding door system with a velocity of 1297.

6th, 8th & 10th federation flying 192 miles was Mr & Mrs Campbell their first bird a blue Herman Cuesters cock the second a chequer hen that is a Rudy Van Reeth bred from birds from the Hunt family in Redditch and were obtained from the late Barry Watson (Watto) a well-known character in Tamworth and their third bird a blue Herman Cuesters cock all were flown on the young bird celibacy system on the Darkness with velocities of 1288, 1286 & 1271.

9th Fed was Mr & Mrs Jimmy Watkins flying 176 miles their bird a blue white flight hen which is bred from out a Staff Van Reet Cock from Jim’s Brother paired to a daughter out Jim’s Welsh National winner she was flown on the Darkness system with both sexes left together in the young bird loft her velocity was 1273.
