Pinxton North Road HS open Shows

Pinxton North Road HS held the first of its annual shows at its headquarters the Pinxton miners welfare in the dance hall.  This show was of any age matched pairs, judged through the wires by the two judges, Steve Hallam of Sutton in Ashfield, a well know achieving fancier with several northern Classic wins & a YND Combine win to his name and much much more and Andrew Kemp of Gedling with this year New North Road Amal 2Bird winner and many other prizes achieved where both are regular achieving pigeon fanciers that race regularly and are hard workers for the sport so good eyes were in play for the show.

We had a good turnout for the first show of 78 birds plus the regular prize raffle of spirits and confectionery and other gifts available and the regular young bird raffle with some young birds on offer from Ryan & Derek Nutthall (Newstead) Ray & Rose Lander (Pinxton) & Kevin Ward (Chesterfield) all in full flow and it was time for a good winter chat and catch up with a pint while judging was in operation.

So now over to the result, taking first in show plus Reserve was Steve Lubelski of Mansfield his winning pair a stunning blue pied cock and a blue white flight hen of Soojen X Van Den Bulck winning £20.

In second place was John Swinn of Blidworth winning £15.

Third & Highly Commended was Andrew Greengrass of Cresswell winning £10.

In fourth spot was the late Kevin Burrows of Ilkeston Kevin unfortunately passed away this year and local ex pigeon fanciers of John Stevenson, Bill Taylor & Trevor Ancliffe have been looking after the birds and decided to show some in Kevin’s name and honour for him they won £5.

Very Highly Commended was Ray Lander of Pinxton and Commended was Gary Jones of Ilkeston winning £10.

Next show is old cocks and old hens through the wires on Sunday 5/12/21 penning 11/12.
