Pinxton North Road HS Open Shows

The Pinxton open shows next series were next up was the young birds of two shows in one with young cocks and young hens through the wires on Sunday the 12th of December 2021 and this was judged by Jonathan Cole of Ratcliffe Nottingham, who is the hard working secretary of Cotgrave North Road Flying club who are members of the New North Road Amalgamation and the Nottingham North Road Federation and Jonathan is also the Treasurer of the Nottingham North Road Federation and has achieved some impressive Cotgrave wins and Amalgamation positions with working full time as well.  He does well and we also thank him for judging our show.  The second Judge was fellow Cotgrave member of Danny Bright of Bingham Nottingham and the two judged the classes and the results were as follows

Young Hens: 1st & Highly Commended was Andrew Greengrass of Cresswell winning £12, 2nd & 3rd & Commended was Wayne Knobbs of Blidworth winning £15, 4th, & Very Highly Commended was Ian Halbert of Poolsbrook winning £3. Reserve was Steve Lebelski of Mansfield.

Young cocks: 1st was John Swinn of Blidworth winning £12, 2nd was Richard Oldham of Hucknall winning £9, 3rd & very highly commended was Wayne Knobbs of Blidworth winning £6, 4th was Andrew Greengrass winning £3, Reserve was Mr & Mrs Haymes & Sons & Grandson of Cromford. Highly Commended was John Hendy of Blackwell & Commended was Ian Halbert.

The last final show of the series for the year ending was of a handling class of the likeliest to fly 500 miles and this was judged by Peter Norris of Grantham who himself being a Jan Arden strain enthusiast of distance pigeons with these being the heart of his kept pigeons and Peter has been around pigeons all his life with his Father John Norris bringing Peter up with and around the pigeons where he saw his Dad lift the Kings Cup from Lerwick and Peter when racing pigeons on his own has achieved some impressive Midlands National performances when flying the South road route as well as New North road Amalgamation 2bird wins and New North Road Amalgamation open wins and top Amalgamation positions and local Grantham club wins.  He is always in the shakeup where ever he sends and participates on both routes north and south this was judged on Sunday the 19/12/21 the result was 1st, 2nd & Reserve was Clive Herrett of Heage winning £28, 3rd & Commended was Wayne Knobbs winning £8, 4th was John Swinn winning £4. Very Highly commended was Mr & Mrs Haymes & Sons & Grandson & Highly commended was Richard Oldham.

The result of the young bird squeaker raffle were as follows which each ticket drawn wins a pair of youngsters for 2022 1 pair The Elliott Brothers of Nottingham 1 pair Richard Oldham 2 pairs Mr & Mrs Haymes & Sons & Grandson 1 pair Jonathan Cole 1 pair Keith Orton of Anesley & 1 pair John Swinn.  Thanks must go to the young bird breeders of Kevin Ward of Chesterfield, Ryan & Derek Nuttall of Newstead & Ray Lander of Pinxton all shows were a great success and we would like to thank organiser Rose Lander and to all judges who took time out to do the judging and to all who attended and supported the events.
