The Leicestershire North Road Federation
The Leicestershire north road Federation kicked off its 2022 racing season with its first old bird race of the old bird season from Wakefield, West Yorkshire with two new clubs aboard the transporter of Grantham & District North Road flying Club & Hucknall Premier Flying Club alongside 30 brand new creates that were used for the first time for the federation and soon another 20 to be supplied.
On the transporter, the birds on the 16/4/22 at 08.45am into an East south East wind the birds were liberated. The top 20 positions in the federation were as follows claiming top spot plus 2nd and 15th federation was the UK Team of Nottingham flying 47 miles with all three scoring birds for the partnership being jealousy system flown yearling hens their federation winner bird being bred from birds of close family friend of Miro Chwedoruk of Yeovil Somerset who has achieved some impressive results in the south west of England south road combine and bred scoring birds in the New North Road Amalgamation Saint Boswells 2021 futurity final. The second scoring bird is another Miro Chwedoruk line bred bird crossed with a Gaston Van De Wouwer from Bill Thompson & Daughter of Nottingham and their third scoring bird being a Leo Herman X Leon Bores their velocities were 2 x 1369 & 1324.196.

Taking 3rd & 13th federation was Kevin & Donna Spires of Wollaton Nottingham flying 49 miles their first bird a roundabout system flown 1y blue cock which is bred from a son of Frank Bristows NRCC kings cup winner crossed a granddaughter of Eric Limbourgs Crazy Boy their velocities were 1349 & 1324.842.
3rd Federation
4th,9th,10th,11th,12th & 17th federation was Geoff Myring of Leicester flying 71 miles with his team of widowhood flown cocks which consists of his timeless year on year faithful Houbens originally from the late Tony Bates and now also consisting of the sprint family Grizzles of local fancier and friend of Mick Thorpe of the Syston north road club in Leicester Geoff’s velocities were 1345, 3x 1327, 1326 & 1320.

5th, 6th & 7th federation was Paul Maiden in the depths of Oakham Rutland flying 75 miles Paul’s a dark Horse being isolated as a North road flyer in these parts and travelling miles each way just to his local club in Grantham he always plucks one out and even in an east wind Pauls topped the Nottinghamshire North Road federation and won the New North Road Amalgamation 2bird specialist section both in the 2021 season his commitment to fly north road pays off well done Paul all three of Paul’s scoring birds were jealously system flown hens which are all Herman Cuesters crossed Leon Bores with velocities of 1340,1339 & 1338.

14th, 16th & 19th federation was Mr & Mrs Nigel Shepherd & Andy Northern of Leicester flying 71 miles with their team of natural flown old birds their first a blue white flight 3y cock that was purchased at the Leicestershire North road federations 2019 breeder buyer event auction and was bred by Gregg Johnson of Ilkeston and is a Jan Grondelier Cross Soojen their next scoring birds are of their own consisted winning family created over the years they have raced pigeons their velocities were 1324.388, 1324.157 & 1318.634.
18th federation was Mick Wale of Leicester flying 70 miles with a 2y natural flown blue white flight John Gerard Hart Hogg cock doing 1318.933.
20th federation was Steve Gammon of Hucknall flying 44 miles with a 1y celibacy flown hen that’s a Syndicate loft line bred bird originating from the stock of the Late Dean Skuse of Newstead Nottinghamshire with a velocity of 1314.891.
