The YND combine held its first old bird race of the 2022 season from the channel island of Guernsey for the first visit of four visits to the island the professional Steve Teasdale pigeon transport fleet was once again the contract haulier for the 2022 season and for this race 13 organisations sent 4,188 birds, that on the 28/5/22, were liberated all together at 09.00am into a north east wind.

The top 23 positions were as follows in the result; claiming top spot for this one was the Derbyshire partnership of D & A Swift & Son that also win their federation of the North Derbyshire SR federation and first in their local club of Heage FC the partnership also operate their beloved quality Dragon Fly Lofts Stud home of their Herman Cuesters and Dirk Van Den Bulks.  Their winner a 3y home bred blue widowhood cock that has topped the federation already five times which three of them were as a young bird and is bred from their star collection number one stock breeding cock called Hoy paired to their star of Maximus hen at their racing stud their winning velocity was 1266 for the 249 mile trip.

2nd & 6th combine was S & J Turner of the North Derbyshire SR Federation flying 261 miles with velocities of 1256.50 and 1241.

4th and 11th combine was J & J Greenfield of the Big Barnsley SR Federation their first bird a 2y blue hen flown on the roundabout system where she also achieved 1st Big Barnsley SR Federation and 1st local club Royston HS her mother is a Nicco Van Noordenne bird and her father a Eijerkamp Jansen cock the hen prior to this achievement has scored Minor club cards but has shown consistency the partnerships second scoring bird a 2y chequer white flight roundabout system flown hen that also achieved 4th Big Barnsley SR Federation and 2nd Royston HS and her breeding is of something special as her mother is responsible for breeding  14 x individual winning birds for the partnership that have all won and her mother is a Dennis Sapin Soojen and her father a Syndicate loft bird being a grandson of the famous Drum pigeon the partnership flew 286 miles with velocities of 1254 and 1234.91.

5th and 7th combine was the partnership of Weston and Cox of the Stocksbridge federation their first bird a 4y roundabout system flown Herman Cuesters hen that also achieved 2nd Stocksbridge federation and 2nd Mid Yorkshire SR Combine and 2nd at local club of Wadsley Bridge FC their second bird also a Herman Cuesters Roundabout flown hen achieved 3rd Stocksbridge Federation 3rd Mid Yorkshire SR Combine and 3rd Wadsley Bridge FC flying 273 miles with velocities of 1242 and 1240.

8th combine was D Field of the Big Barnsley Federation flying 292 miles doing 1239.

13th combine was J Sykes of the Big Barnsley SR federation flying 290 miles doing 1234.07.

14th combine was the partnership of Cawthorne & Eggleston & Son of the Stocksbridge Federation that also achieved 6th Stocksbridge federation 1st Colley HS and 4th Wadsley Bridge FC plus 6th Mid Yorkshire SR Combine flying 273 miles with a light chequer 2y hen flown on the roundabout system where she is a Planet Brothers Van Loon and is a previously Colley HS winner from the coast from Lyndhurst the partnership has had the Van Loon family for over 20 years their velocity was 1232.

15th combine was the partnership of Catch & Cartwright of the Big Barnsley SR federation flying 289 miles with a velocity of 1231.

18th combine was Robert Barraclough and son of the Little Barnsley & district SR federation were he also achieved 1st Little Barnsley & District SR federation 8th Stocksbridge federation 8th Mid Yorkshire SR combine and 1st Pennistone FC the bird being a 2y blue roundabout flown hen which is a De Klak crossed Harthog strain were her parents originate from John woods of Royston Barnsley Rob’s velocity was 1225.76.

19th combine was C & R Gorrill of the Northern Classic club flying 261 miles doing 1225.05

20th combine was the Somers Brothers of the Derbyshire SR federation flying 274 miles with a velocity of 1222.

21st combine was Dave Crowther of the Leeds Amalgamation flying 294 miles which also achieved 1st Leeds amalgamation 1st Stourton FC and 9th Mid Yorkshire SR combine the bird being a 2y blue widowhood flown hen which is a Jan Hoyman originating from Terry Marshall of Newcastle birds last season as a 1y she carded before from Guernsey and as a young bird won from Carantan and topped the heavy Woolen SR federation and won the Heavy woolen two bird special plus has achieved many other cards and prizes for Dave her velocity for this race was 1221.69.

22nd combine was R & C ‘O’ Shea of the Nottinghamshire SR federation flying 269 miles were they also achieved 1st Nottinghamshire SR federation and 1st Manton Colliery HS Worksop their bird a 1y  roundabout system flown cock and is named Slimline Tonic by the partnership and he is bred from birds sent to the partnership from close friend Maurice Van Der Kruk from Tiel in Holland and this cock has already achieved some minor federation cards for the partnership his velocity was 1221.45.
