TDNRF kicked off its 2022 young bird season with its first young bird race to report on this was being flown from Wetherby Race course in West Yorkshire and also the first time this season due to the Avian Bird flu restrictions in force all the federations clubs and members could legally participate and all clubs take part in the event so on the 6/8/22 at 10am into a west north west wind the birds were liberated the top twenty positions in the federation were as follows.

Winning the federation plus claiming the top seven positions was Malcolm Parry and Buzz Ellis of Trent Valley Lofts flying 60 miles with their darkness natural left together team of young birds their federation winner a chequer hen was bred by Robert Rea of Larne Northern Ireland as Malcolm when this year on a John Wheatcroft organised pigeon trip to Northern Ireland was introduced to Robert in a Pub and Malcolm when talking offered six youngsters for Robert to try so Robert returned the favour so they both swapped six youngsters this year last week Robert won his local club with one Malcolm and Buzz swapped with the six Malcolm’s next six birds are his own bred close friend John Salt of Kimberly Soojens with a touch of Harry Totney of South Wales Les Green Dirk Van Den Bulks introduced into the breeding their velocities were 1530, 1529, 3 x 1528 and 2x 1527.

16th Fed was Keith Orton & Son flying 59 miles with a darkness blue hen sitting nest eggs being a great granddaughter from the Jelle Baby Jelle Jellema cross Batenburg Van Der Merwe with a velocity of 1504. 17th and 18th Fed was Rick Shelton flying 67 miles with 2 x blue pied darkness cocks left together on natural for a few races before being separated on the slid door his first a distance family bred pair bred from a pair of distance pigeons from the late Neil Inger of Kimberly and his father is the full brother to Rick’s 5th open Midlands National scoring cock his second bird a Leo Herman also the parents originally from the Late Neil Inger Rick’s velocities were 2 x 1503.
