The New North Road Amalgamation
The amalgamations fourth event of 2022 was a very prestigious event with a race from Balmoral castle to celebrate the Queens jubilee with this being our gold ribbon event and what a fabulous event and honour this was to release our pigeons and hold a historic north road event on the beautiful royal castle estate but now saddened by the loss of her majesty RIP Queen Elizabeth patron of our beloved sport.

For the race sponsorship from PJ Lofts and Stud was kindly on offer with £25 for each of our four section winners available and the beautiful Welsh slate dragon trophies handmade also up for grabs and the work of the Sea man’s missionary sea fairers club of Newport was extremely appreciated for this event £1,522.45 of prize money was on the table for the four sections with organisations of the South west of England Lerwick Club, Welsh north road federation, Derbyshire north road federation, the Mid Northamptonshire federation, the International Championship flying club and individual clubs of Ashby & District FC, Corby NRFC, Northampton town NRFC, Brixworth NRFC, Grantham & District NRFC, Hucknall premier FC, Syston & District NRFC and Ilkeston south section FC were all liberated together at 07.15am on the 25/6/22 into a strong head and side wind of a south west wind.
Again at the fanciers choice to unite and fly together duplicated birds at £1 a bird were activated into the race event. Again unfortunately due to Avian bird flu not all members in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire could take part due to restrictions enforced. The results now of the top ten birds from the four sections are as follows, in the north section having a fabulous race was J & S Dangerfield new to the north road scene this year with many many fabulous south road achievements gained in continental specialist clubs of the North midlands continental club and federation several gold medal wins including a double gold medal win by the same bird and national successes the partnership of father and son of Father James and son Steph, unfortunately this year not long after this race James sadly passed away and now son Steph continues their legacy and James enjoyed a royal win god bless him father and son enjoyed some good times as in life and even more so when you race pigeons together. Your dad is your best friend, I miss my father every day and we did everything together with pigeons and out of pigeons just like Steph did. Over to their performing birds that achieved 1st, 2nd 4th and 10th north section and 1st, 2nd, 5th and 13th open in the TNNRA plus 1st 2nd 4th and 8th Derbyshire north road federation and 1st and 2nd Pinxton NRFC flying 282 miles their winner a 1y blue hen her sire being a son of Max and lmana Syndicate Lofts her dam being a half-sister to their double gold medal winning Saintes hen 509 miles their second bird a 2y dark chequer hen and her sire won 1st open 1st section north midlands continental club and 1st Notts & derby border federation from Saintes for the partnership plus many top ten north midlands and border federation positions from again Saintes and Carentan, Falaise and Massac scoring every time sent and her dam being a Alexander Margris bird from John Wheatcroft. Their next arrival being a blue 1y cock being a Joesbury & Darby partnership Rudy Van Reeth and David Peeters and their final drop in a 1y blue pied cock from their fabulous old Van Loon cock line bred all were flown on the widowhood system and flown newly north road this season their velocities were 1091.883, 1091.361, 1047 and 981.

3rd, 5th and 8th north section plus 3rd, 6th and 9th open in the TNNRA plus 3rd and 5th Derbyshire north road federation was John Hendy flying 281 miles with his natural flown old bird team his first bird a 1y chequer white flight cock that was a gift bred bird by Oliver Middleton of South Normanton being Mark Walker and the Scottish Macalaney based bred bird his second bird a mealy 1y hen being a Ray and Rose Lander Bushart and his third bird an own bred strain 1y red pied cock with velocities of 1087, 1032 and 993.
6th and 7th north section and 7th and 8th open in the TNNRA plus 1st and 2nd Hucknall premier FC was Barry Pearce flying 283 miles and the two scoring birds for Barry are both full brothers of 2 x 1y blue cocks being bred of direct Syndicate loft lines from Miss Rocket, Outlaws, Rowan, Hannibal, Simply Perfect and GFL 004745 are all in the breeding of the two widowhood flown cocks which their parents originating from the late Dean Skuse who was a regular direct investor of the famous Syndicate lofts Barry’s velocities were 1026 and 1021.

Over to the centre section now claiming 1st ,5th and 10th centre section and 4th, 24th and 35th open in the TNNRA and 1st, 5th and 9th in the Mid Northamptonshire federation flying 330 miles was the partnership of Frank McBride & Simon Shearsby also in partnership with the successful German Dandiloft marathon lofts with their first arrival a natural flown 4y chequer cock that has flew Pau twice for the partnership on the south road and has always shown and performed on the distance his father has won from Beaudeaux and topped the mid Northamptonshire federation and scored well in the MNFC and his mother being a direct daughter from the Welsh wizards of Scammell & Peploe national lofts off their famous The Nearly cock their second to clock a blue 2y natural cock being a Steven Van Bremen bred off Andrew Smith of Harrowden 2nd open MNFC Beaudeaux cock crossed with a PJ lofts Ko-Nipius. Their third bird a 4y blue pied cock were he has already achieved 9th section BICC Beaudeaux for the partnership flying south road and both his parents were obtained from Micky Locke of Liverpool there scoring velocities were 1059, 957 and 928.
1st Centre Section
2nd centre section 12th open in the TNNRA plus 2nd Mid Northamptonshire federation was Andrew Smith flying 340 miles with a 1y blue Steven Van Bremen widowhood hen doing 985.
3rd centre section 20th open in the TNNRA plus 3rd Mid Northamptonshire federation was Les Berry & Son flying 320 miles with a 3y blue cock doing 964.
4th and 7th section and 22nd and 28th open in the TNNRA and 4th and 7th Mid Northamptonshire federation was Ronald Fairbairn flying 331 miles with the same 2x widowhood flown cocks that scored and came well from the previous Thornton Park race these two cocks are both bred from McMurchie stock birds Ron obtained back in the day which have served him well over the seasons his velocities were 961 and 936.
8th section 29th open in the TNNRA plus 1st Corby NRFC flying 329 miles was Mr & Mrs Lynn & Jack powers with their good consistent scoring mealy 2y widowhood flow hen of the Staff Van Reet breed originally bred from Ian Murchison of Carlisle stock she’s now got plenty of Scottish points now with Berwick, Thornton Park and now Royal Balmoral wins to her name for the partnership her velocity was 935.
9th centre section plus 34th open in the TNNRA and 8th Mid Northamptonshire federation was Nelu Daraban flying 340 miles with a 2y blue chequer cock doing 929.
Over to the West sections top ten positions having a fabulous race with all his team of yearling sent at the distance and having multiple wins on the day was Gavin Duggan claiming 1st, 6th and 9th west section plus 10th, 62nd and 71st open in the TNNRA plus 1st, 6th & 7th open and 1st, 6th & 7th section E International Championship flying club and 1st, 9th and 12th open in the south west of England Lerwick Club and finally 1st, 2nd and 3rd Evesham FC flying 349 miles his winner a 1y blood red hen her mother Gavin purchased from the Barcelona one loft race end sale back in 2010 and her father being a De Klak from Ponderosa stud his second a 1y chequer pied hen being bred off birds from Mark Pollen of Belgium purchased at an auction of some of Marks birds and Gavin’s third bird a 1y dark chequer hen bred from one of Gavin’s own Barcelona flying bird which for Gavin achieved 22nd open 1st section BICC that’s her mother and her father being related to Gavin’s winner the blood red hen and he also in 2020 flew Barcelona for Gavin all flown on Gavin’s roundabout system and Gavin’s velocities were 989, 882, and 854.

7th west section and 63rd open in the TNNRA was Wesley Selway being the furthest flyer of 401 miles Wesley also achieved 10th open south west of England Lerwick Club and 1st Bridgewater NRFC with a 4y blue cock that’s previously won Perth 370 miles on the north road and flew Pau on the south road for Wesley 570 miles and is a Soojen bred from D & M Moore stock of Bristol Wesley’s velocity was 881.
8th west section 67th open in the TNNRA plus 11th open South west of England Lerwick Club and 1st Thornbury NRFC was Robert Organ flying 375 miles with a 2y natural flown Bushart based blue chequer cock doing 863. 10th west section plus 76th open in the TNNRA was Trevor Cooke flying 359 miles plus also achieved 8th open and 8th section E international Championship flying club plus 13th open south west of England Lerwick Club and 1st Longford NRFC Trevor’s bird a 3y grizzle hen that scored well previously from Thornton Park and has carded on many occasions she was bred by A & L Butler being a Bushart crossed Jansen and was purchased as a youngster at a club breeder buyer sale she was flown on the widowhood system her velocity was 830.
Over to the Welsh section of the top ten in the section winning the section was Tony Gibbions & Son plus also achieved 89th open in the TNNRA flying 376 miles with a 1y mealy hen her father cost Tony £100 from a Shaun Woolen Black Country pigeon auction and is bred from Red Barcelona lines from John Seal her mother being a Le Febre Dhaenen originating from original stock lines Tony purchased in 1982 from Keith Johnson of Thornbury she the week previously was 2nd pill Newport club her velocity was 776.

2nd and 6th Welsh section plus 90th and 140th open in the TNNRA plus 22nd and 56th open and 4th and 14th section C in the International Championship flying club was William Holpin & Son flying 356 miles with 2 x 1y natural flown blue cocks the first a Bushart crossed Jansen and the second a Lambrecht’s were his parents were both purchased at Blackpool show stand selling some Lambrecht’s, Williams velocities were 774 and 564.
3rd and 6th Welsh section plus 92nd and 129th open was T Hawkins & family flying 378 miles and also achieved 23rd and 49th open and 5th and 13th section C in the International Championship flying club their first bird a widowhood 2y blue cock last season also achieved 5th open Welsh National FC and 9th open in the new north road amalgamation Creiff and he is bred from off their original year 2000 Belgium strain family they purchased and obtained back in the day which serve the partnership well in success And their second also a widowhood flown 2y blue cock being bred by Andy Kidd and achieved 3rd Welsh section in the TNNRA from previously flown Thornton Park their velocities were 771 and 592.
4th and 10th Welsh section plus 111th and 161st open was Mr & Mrs Jim Watkins flying 377 miles they also achieved 35th open and 76th open and 9th and 23rd section C in the International Championship flying club with 2 x widowhood flown cocks being Staff Van Reets crossed Jansen with velocities of 665 and 465. 5th and 8th Welsh section plus 115th and 159th open in the TNNRA was Kevin Williams flying 376 miles Kevin also achieved 39th and 71st open and 11th and 20th section C in the International Championship flying club Kevin’s two scoring birds being sent on the traditional natural system and are both of his own created winning strain of bird he’s created over the years Kevin’s velocities were 647 and 493.
9th Welsh section and 160th open in the TNNRA was John Newbury flying 375 miles with a 3y blue cock doing 480 John also achieved 73rd open 21st section C in the International Championship flying club.
