The New North Road Amalgamation
The New North Road Amalgamation held its fifth event of the season and this was being flown from Thurso on the far northern tip of Scotland organisations of the amalgamation of the Mid Northamptonshire federation, Derbyshire north road federation and individual clubs of Cotgrave NRFC, Grantham & District NRFC, Northampton Town NRFC, Brixworth NRFC, Hucknall premier FC, Ashby & District FC and Ilkeston south section FC took part in the event and all birds were liberated together by Tyson Haymes on the 9/7/22 at 9.00am into a north west wind at the fanciers choice of the organisations sending birds were activated into the amalgamation at £1 a bird again due to bird flu restrictions fanciers in affected parts of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire could not take part £261.60 was on offer for prize monies the top ten birds in the two competing sections and open result are as follows. In the North section claiming 1st, 9th and 10th section plus 1st, 12th and 14th open in the TNNRA was Richard Oldham flying 394 miles plus also achieving 1st Derbyshire north road federation and 1st Pinxton NRFC Richard’s three scoring birds were flown on the roundabout system his winner a 3y chequer pied hen being full of the famous Louella stud and Jan Arden stars in her breeding her sire being a great grandson to the famous true grit her dam being related to invincible spirit and De Smaragd ll his second bird also a 3y chequer pied hen being a Jan Arden bred out of parents obtained from the House of Arden stud and they being related to Smaragd 370. His third bird a 2y dark cock being a Louella Antoon Schultz crossed Wildesmersch and he being a full brother to Richards Elgin and Thornton Park winning cock Richard’s velocities were 1425, 1302 and 1300.

2nd section and 2nd open in the TNNRA plus 1st Grantham & District NRFC was Peter Norris flying 409 miles his bird being a 3y chequer cock that was bred and gifted to Peter by fellow club mate Barry Baker of Newark and being a Van Geel being flown on the widowhood system with a velocity of 1398.

3rd and 7th section and 4th and 9th open in the TNNRA and 2nd Derbyshire north road federation and 2nd Pinxton NRFC was Keith Orton & Son flying 391 miles their first a 1y chequer cock being a Jansen cock on the widowhood system their second bird a 1y chequer hen on the natural system sent sitting nest eggs being a Jansen cross Herman Cuesters with a velocities of 1375 and 1316.
4th and 8th section and 6th and 11th open in the TNNRA was Ken Ferns also achieving 1st and 3rd Cotgrave NRFC flying 404 miles with 2 x roundabout flown 2y cocks being Dougie Fisher of Bingham based bred birds Ken’s velocities were 1362 and 1311.
5th section and 7th open in the TNNRA was Aspley & Wragsdale flying 383 miles and also achieving 3rd Derbyshire north road federation and 1st Chesterfield Stute NRFC with a 2y blue roundabout system flown cock being a Van Loon cross Van Lint with a velocity of 1344.
6th section and 8th open in the TNNRA was Paul Kennerdale & Son flying 404 miles and also achieving 2nd Cotgrave NRFC with a 1y blue cock being a Koopman being bred from Brian Hallsall stock of Liverpool flown on the roundabout system with a velocity of 1341.
Over to the centre section and achieving 1st and 5th section plus 3rd and 20th open in the TNNRA was Dave Woods flying 426 miles and also achieving 1st and 2nd Ilkeston south section club both Dave’ s birds were flown on the natural system sitting twelve day old nest eggs his first bird a 4y blue hen being bred from Nicholson & Griffiths stock from their distance blood lines and his second bird a 3y blue cock being of Dave’s own family created strain his velocities were 1391 and 1260. Both these birds fly north road and south road routes regularly being switched by Dave 2nd section and 5th open in the TNNRA was Andrew Smith flying 446 miles and also achieving 1st Mid Northamptonshire federation and 1st Harrowden FC with a 2y blue widowhood flown cock being a Stephen Van Bremen with a velocity of 1365.

3rd section and 10th open was Sam Richards flying 455 miles and also achieving 1st Northampton town NRFC with a 2y blue white flight hen with a velocity of 1315.
4th section and 13th open in the TNNRA was Julian Richards flying 454 miles and also achieving 2nd Northampton Town NRFC with a 1y chequer cock doing 1306.
6th section and 23rd open in the TNNRA and 2nd Grantham & District NRFC was Paul Maiden flying 423 miles with a 5y chequer hen flown on the widowhood system and she being a De Klak bred from Ron and Nigel Dennett stock of Maiden Vale Mansfield with a velocity of 1245.
7th, 8th, 9th and 10th section plus 24th, 25th, 26th and 27th open in the TNNRA was Mohamed Ayaz flying 427 miles with four birds landing together from over 400 miles and all four being yearlings, Mohamed also achieved 3rd and 4th Ilkeston south section FC Mohamed’s four birds are as follows his 1st, 3rd and 4th birds are Jonny Heath of Cannock strain and are bred from Jonny’s successful channel scoring birds and his 2nd arrival bird a chequer hen being gifted and bred by the Maddix Brothers of Kingstanding Birmingham they were all sent on the natural system and were sent sitting ten day old nest eggs Mohamed’s velocities were 3 x 1240 and 1239.
