The New North Road Amalgamation - £52,448 prize race
The TNNRA last 2022 race now to report on this being the 8th event operated by the organisation and this being the most exiting one saving the best till last it’s been a tough old season with the bird flu affecting most of our Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire members including myself not being able to race pigeons but for them being able to take part in our Futurity final it is of great relief and myself and the committee would like to congratulate all prize winners and all who took part after running costs and no profit kept for the organisation again giving members it back scheme which we operate on every race the prize funds were split as follows the north section being of Derbyshire Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Grantham & District NRFC members fanciers that took part for £24,708 paid out to 33 scoring bird positions made into 66 payments the south section being of members in Worcestershire, Gloucestershire Somerset and South Wales fanciers that took part with a prize fund of £27,740 paid out to 23 scoring birds into 46 payments with the races first drop at Worksop on the northern tip of Nottinghamshire and the furthest flyers being at Bridgewater in Somerset on the Devon borders with the shortest flying 145 miles and the furthest 290 miles this was being flown from Alnwick Rugby club and Caravan park in Northumberland and thanks must go to the local Tate Family for kindly stewarding the liberation and filming the event for the members the convoying team of Peter Mathews and Jordan Smith released the birds on the 17/9/22 at 9.30am into a west north west wind the prize payout and birds breeder prizes are as follows; For both sections a combined of all birds clocked result was published and then the two section results indicating the prize money and racers name and breeders name the North section up first winning the event plus claiming 1st and 2nd and having two birds together arriving was Darren Hadfield with 2 x blue hens flown on the darkness system flying on the sliding door system the winner was bred by Darren himself and the second bird being bred by John Holmes of Selston Nottinghamshire Darren won £9000 and John Holmes winning £2000. The winner being a Sagan bloodlines crossed Pitbull most of Darren’s birds originate from Mark and Andrew Darby of Walsall and Lyndon Joesbury Darren first met these chaps 7 years ago and he states I’ve never looked back with their birds and knowledge they have provided myself , Darren also states that without the massive help of his father Stewart Hadfield he would not achieve what he does with him training the birds for Darren and looking after the stock birds as Darren only has a small back garden set up with everything in it racing the stock birds are at his Dads his second scoring bird the John Holmes bred bird being a Gus Jansen crossed Dirk Van Den Bulk Darren’s velocities were 1784 and 1783.

Claiming 3rd and 4th prize was Kevin & Donna Spires also with two arriving together with the first a blue hen then followed by a chequer pied cock both these birds were bred by the Jutla Brothers of London and the first being a Leo Herman crossed Dirk Van Den Bulk and the second a Best Kittle crossed Rudy Van Reef crossed Gabby Vandenbeale Kevin & Donna won £2,500 and the Jutla Brothers win £2,500 their velocities were 1781 and 1780.
5th and 6th place with also two birds arriving together was the father and son partnership of Derek and Ryan Nuttall these also bred both the scoring birds and lift £2,678 with some pools included also with their first a blue white flight hen followed by a chequer hen on the darkness system on the sliding door system their breeding the first one being out of Mike Ganus one loft cock bird we’re all four of his grandparents are winners for the Famous Ganus name crossed with a Rauw De Sablon hen the second being bred off a Cock crow Stud cock paired to a Granddaughter of the Drum of the Syndicate loft Dynasty their velocities were 1738 and 1729.

7th was Phil Horsman of Chesterfield with a black pied Lambrechts hen bred by Kevin Lawson of Ollerton and this hen being the full sister to the black pied hen that lifted £2000 in the 2021 Saint Boswells futurity race for Paul Spendlove and Kevin Lawson Phil won £404.50 with some pools Kevin won £350 their velocity was 1724.

15th was John Scott John who purchased his own bird back being a stunning blue cock his breeding is his father being a gift un rung Van Loon cock gifted to John from fellow club mate John Norris of Grantham out his stock loft and his mother was also a gift bird hen to John from fellow Scotsman childhood friend Francis Sloan who flies in the strong Lanarkshire Scottish federation the hen being a Lambrechts bred off birds obtained from Howard Jackson’s 2019 auction sale this cock was just taking a liking to a hen in the loft before being sent and John placed him a bowl in the young bird loft John works very long hours so he only received 3 x short sprint club races with the Leicester NR federation and several training flights and the week leading up to this race John single tossed the cock at 50 miles this cocks full nest mate brother was also sent to this race and returned just after John took his clock off on his way to having it struck off John won £200 with a velocity of 1660.
16th was Richard Oldham of Hucknall with his own bred bird he purchased back it being a blue hen which is a Wildesmersch crossed Leon Bores flown on the traditional natural system Richard won £200 with a velocity of 1652
17th was Dean Milner of Worksop purchasing his own bird back a chequer hen being a Herman Cuesters winning Dean 228.80p with pools with a velocity of 1651.
18th and 19th with two birds together was Steve Gammon with 2 x Herman Cuesters bred by D & M Moore of Bristol Steve won £200 and the Moore’s £200 with a velocities of 1647 and 1646.
20th was Richard Oldham with a blue cock being bred by Dougie Fisher of Bingham Richard wins £100 and Dougie wins £100 their velocity was 1636.
21st was Dean Milner with his own purchased back Herman Cuesters winning him £210 with some pools included with a velocity of 1615.

30th was Glenn Plows of Worksop Glenn purchased his own bird back being a mealy cock and this bird went to every club and Fed race with the Nottingham NR federation leading up to this race event and was always in the shake up at Worksop club Glenn wins £50 with a velocity of 1521.

32nd was Wayne Knobbs with a chequer Gabby Vandenbeale cook bred by Keith Orton of Anesley Nottinghamshire they win £20 each with a velocity of 1501.

Over to the south section result now and the winner lifts £10,000 this being the keen enthusiastic partnership of Luff & Walker Brothers of Dursley Gloucestershire The winner being a blue white flight hen being bred by Chris Templar of Bristol and being a Lambrechts bred from out of Direct stock from Stuart Innett and Adam Wealthall and this little hen prior to the race has achieved some impressive success with a 1st Nailsworth club and 2nd open in the South West of England Lerwick Club from Stratford upon Avon (1) and another 1st club from Stratford upon Avon (2) and a 2nd club 2nd open SWELC from Coventry she was sent to the race paired up and sitting 14 day old nest eggs and on the Darkness system Chris Templar wins £5000 and the Luff & Walker Brothers £5000 their velocity was 1546.
