The TNNRA held its first race of the season from Hexham race course In Northumberland with £1,291.30 on the table for prizes on offer for the fanciers of organisations that took part at their choice to activate and compete against all birds liberated. Organisations that took part and joint liberation were the South West of England Lerwick Club, the Warwickshire & District federation, the Derbyshire North Road Federation, the Welsh North Road Federation, the International Championship Club, the Eclipse 650 championship club and individual clubs of Sutton Colliery and Hucknall Premier.

All birds were jointly liberated at 10am into a north east wind on a warm sunny day, the top ten from the four competing sections are as follows; first up the centre section claiming 1st section 5th, and 6th section plus 4th, 28th and 29th open and 1st Warwickshire & District Federation and 1st Nuneaton progressive club was Paul Robinson flying 170 miles. Paul’s first a 1y blue hen flown on the roundabout system being bred from Tim Atkin of Dunchurch successful performing birds, it’s dam being Den 11 lines crossed De Gust lines of Ulrich Lemmens and her sire being related to Tim’s first scoring bird in this race Paul’s second another 1y hen on the roundabout being bred from short sprit speed specialist loft of mick O’Rourke of Leicester bird cross another Tim Atkin bird and his third a 1y chequer widowhood cock bred by Tim Atkin off Tim’s Granger cross Willem De Bruijn Secratariat lines Paul’s velocities were 1607, and 2 x 1574.

2nd, and 4th section and 6th and 22nd open was Tim Atkin flying 184 miles his first a 2y blue cock being bred from Tim’s top performing pair which consist of a son off propere Rik when paired to a daughter of Kanon this pair have bred Tim club and federation and open level event winners when flying on the south road route Tim’s second bird a 3y blue hen is again bred from a son of propere Rik when paired to one of Tim’s original Ulrich Lemmens import these are flown on Tim’s own basic system he has created as they are kept separate from each other and are not paired and are not shown before the race marking night or are not trained only loft flown and shown on race return for a period Tim’s velocities were 1604 and 1577.

3rd section and 17th open was Mr & Mrs Graham and Yvonne Winterton flying 163 miles with a 3y dark cock being flown on the natural system he’s bred from Mr & Mrs Peter Shaw of Ruddington Nottingham birds as this partnership before taking a break from the sport due to family commitments always was the name to look for in the Scottish race results and  had some good performances out of Lerwick and Thurso they have achieved over the years and are close friends to Graham and Yvonne their velocity was 1579.988.

7th section and 33rd open was Steve Landsdown flying 162 miles with a 3y dark chequer natural flown hen being a Herman Cuesters bred from Steve Evans of Caerphilly stock with a velocity of 1571.

8th ,9th and 10th section plus 36th, 47th and 48th open was John Gilbert flying 173 miles with his team of Gabby Vandenbeale birds from original lines John purchased these were sent separated and only mixed together on race day return for a period of time depending on how the race went on period time left together johns velocities were 1570 and 2 x 1556.

Over to the west section and the top ten are as follows achieving 1st section 1st open south west of England Lerwick club 1st west Bristol club 5th open international championship club and 13th open amalgamation was A & D Collins flying 244 miles their winner a 2y blue cock flown on widowhood he already in 2022 won the TNNRA open from Hexham for the partnership and is a Gilbert Heijnen of the Netherlands strain his winning velocity was 1586.

2nd section and 18th open was R Taylor & Sons flying 244 miles with a 1y blue hen doing 1579.747. 3rd and 4th section and 20th and 21st open was Chris & John Adams flying 238 miles with 2 x widowhood flown hens that came together the first over the pad was a van Den Bulk followed by a Coreman with velocities of 2 x 1578.

5th section and 30th open was Steve Moseley flying 245 miles with a 1y blue cock being a van Den Bulk purchased from the new north road amalgamation’s 2022 Futurity young bird sales his velocity was 1573.808.

6th section and 35th open flying 244 miles was A & K Bedford with a 3y blue chequer cock being a Herman Cuesters flown on widowhood he’s a previous winner on the south road route and a winner on the north road route a consistent bird for the partnership with a velocity of 1570.

7th and 8th section plus 44th and 45th open flying 244 miles was Andy George with 2 x 1y blue cocks flown on widowhood system both these were also purchased at the new north road amalgamations 2022 Futurity young bird sale the first was bred by Ian Rockley of Nottingham and the second bred by Wayne Knobbs of Mansfield Andy’s velocities were 2 x 1558 with both birds arriving together.

9th section and 46th open was A & L Butler flying 216 miles with a 3y blue hen being a Marshal and marshal stock bred bird of the famous machine bird partnership this was bred off stock birds gifted to the partnership from Andy Kidd of South Wales and she was flown on the celibacy system her velocity was 1557.

10th section and 52nd open was Alan Meacham flying 244 miles with a 3y blue pied widowhood flown cock being a Van Den Bulk that is a previous 2 x south west of England open club winner and 4 x local club winner for Alan his velocity was 1552.

Now to the top ten in the North section claiming 1st section 5th open 3rd Derbyshire north road federation and 3rd Long Eaton club was Mr & Mrs Dave Lee flying 146 miles with a 3y blue hen bred by Louella pigeon stud being a Jacob Poortvliet flown on the roundabout system and she’s had several club and federation cards for the partnership her velocity was 1606.

Over to the Welsh section and the big boss having a great day at the office was Mark Phobian claiming on the day 1st open 1st section TNNRA 1st International Championship club 1st Welsh north road federation and 1st Pill Racing pigeon club flying 240 miles well done Mark! 4th section and 19th open was Hillberg & Southall flying 241 miles on 1579.

5th, 6th, 7th and 8th section plus 23rd, 24th, 26th and 31st open was the partnership of Sterio Brothers & Ellaway flying 245 miles with three birds together on 3x 1576 and 1573.405.
