The Millbridge North Road Federation
Well the seasons started and the very first north road old bird race for the federation was flown this weekend after its first season in operation in 2023 with just racing the young birds on the grand old north road route for fanciers and members in South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire Ridings with a successful young bird season it's now time to kick off 2024. The first stop of 2024 was being at Darlington on the 27/4/24 at 09.10am into a light north east wind The A team of Gary Cooper and Peter Simmons released the federation birds on their way the top open twelve birds in the federation are as follows;
Claiming 1,2,3,4,5 was Brian Smith flying 65 miles all five scoring birds are of Herman Cuesters bred from David Sara and was gifted to Brian by Phillip Wadsworth who due to health issues unfortunately had to finish keeping pigeons so gifted Brian the birds Brian's velocities were 1644 and 3 x 1643 and 1642.

6th federation was A & B Halstead flying 66 miles with a yearling blue hen being a Lambrechts flown on the roundabout system with a velocity of 1633.

7th federation was The Castello family & Leach partnership flying 61 miles with a yearling blue chequer cock being a Van den bulk of the Leach Brothers of Hebden Bridge crossed with the Castello's own created family of bird from the many years of racing their birds successfully he was flown on the roundabout system with a velocity of 1627.
8th and 9th federation was C Lister & Son & Grace flying 60 miles their first a 1y blue pied cock that won Hexham as a young bird followed by a 1y blue cock both being of their own created strain of family of pigeons flown on the roundabout system and being clocked into a T3 clock which the partnership still passionately use with velocities of 1625 and 1617.
10th federation was Dyer & Borg flying 62 miles with a 1y blue cock being a Herman Cuesters flown on the roundabout system with a velocity of 1610.
11th and 12th federation was S Speight & Son flying 56 miles with 2 x blue cocks the first a 2y cock being a half-brother to the partnerships 2019 RPRA middle distance award winning bird and their second a 1y cock being bred by Ross Thackery of his Macaloney lines both were flown on the traditional natural system with velocities of 1608 and 1602.
Well that's the top twelve of the first race of 2024.
