The third old bird race to report on was being flown from Hexham on the 11/5/24 and at 11.15am the birds were liberated into a light south east wind the top twelve positions in the federation are as follows; claiming first federation was Ron Kitching flying 87 miles with a 1y blue Stefan Lambrecht cock being flown on the widowhood system and has carded as a young bird for Ron his winning velocity was 1319.

2nd 3rd 4th and 6th federation was S Speight & Son flying 86 miles their first a 1y chequer pied cock that is a Stickers Donkers X Gus Jansen and his father topped the Dewsbury federation from Carentan for Ross Thackeray their next a 1y Herman Cuesters hen and she won from Kelso last season as a youngster on the north road she was followed by a 1y hen that is a Van Loon of Ramsden & Crosby crossed a Gus Jansen from Clive Lister of York she was bred by Ross Thackeray for the partnership and their final arrival a 1y pure Gus Jansen again bred by Ross Thackeray all being flown on the widowhood system the partnership would like to thank Ross Thackeray for breeding then some young birds to race as unfortunately Ross has had a few years out of racing due to commitments and health and bred some youngsters for the partnership to try on the north road route new venture and they are appreciative of what Ross has done for them their scoring velocities are 1309, 2x 1308 and 1303.
2nd fed Hexham S Speight & Son
5th federation was A Bunting & Son flying 98 miles with a 3y dark Hen being a Gabby Vandenbeale flown on the widowhood system and she has scored cards for the partnership previously on the south road route before her switching to the north road her scoring velocity was 1304. 7th federation was P & G Cooper flying 87 miles with a 1y blue Herman Cuesters hen flown on the roundabout system with a velocity of 1295.
8th federation was Lister & Smith flying 86 miles with a 1y Dark cock being a Bushart of King Pin lines crossed Lambrechts from Kevin and Mary Cross of the north east he was flown on the widowhood system with a velocity of 1280. 9th federation was Ralph Ellis & Son flying 98 miles with a 2y chequer cock being a Van Den Bulk and the same bird that fed carded for them from Darlington the week previous he was flown on the widowhood system with a velocity of 1258.679.
10th federation was Dyer & Borg flying 90 miles with a 1y blue hen being spare just flying back to her perch as her cock was killed by the peregrine falcon around the loft she is of the partnerships own created strain with a velocity of 1258.502.
11th & 12th federation was the Castello Family & Leach flying 89 miles with 2 x hens flown on the roundabout system being Van Bulks of the Leach Brothers of Hebden Bridge their velocities were 2 x 1258.163.
Close finish at the bottom half this week moving on for next week that's another race done.
