Ashby and Ilkeston club held its annual joint open young bird gold ring scheme event over £9000 paid out since up and running for a few years only now for this reported event £2,600 was on the table flying from Berwick upon Tweed on the Scottish Borders with 2 x sections available 160 miles to 200 miles as the north section and 200 miles and above as south section the event took place on the 13/9/24 and at 10.15 am the birds were liberated on their way into a no wind situation on the liberation site the top six positions in each section are as follows winning 1st north section and 1st open was Daniel Soanes Brown flying 180 miles and winning £600 with a velocity of 1500 his winning bird a chequer cock being bred off a pair of birds from Charlie Woof of the Nottinghamshire famous partnership of Woof Brothers back in the day these brothers was a force that moved clouds in the sky with results it was sent by Daniel parted with two sexes to motivate each other before events sent to.

2nd north section and 2nd open was Darren Hadfield flying 188 miles with a dark hen winning £300 with a velocity of 1497 and the bird being a David Peeters strain bird flown on Darren's young bird roundabout system on the darkness system.

Claiming 3rd open 1st south section plus 3rd south section 13th open was the furthest flier of the event of Tom Burkill flying 246 miles winning £800 with velocities of 1496 and 1406.

3rd and 4th north section and 4th and 5th open was Darren Oakley flying 185 miles winning £330 his first a blue pied cock followed by a red cock both being Lambrechts on the darkness system being sent both sitting nest eggs fed on Beyers corn and gold bird products Darren informs us and trained Monday to Thursday 35 miles with a velocity of 2 x 1483 with two birds arriving together.

5th south section and 16th open was Ken Ferns flying 201 miles winning £70 with a blue pied hen bred by Gary Jones of Ilson lofts being a Herman Cuesters bred around the Bolt lines doing 1390.

6th south section 17th open was Dave Woods flying 223 miles with a chequer pied hen doing 1388.
