The New North Road Amalgamation held its third old bird race of the season as this was unusually a one off race which was flown from Newton Aycliffe in County Durham due to the Covid restrictions and we wanted to still provide a four race old bird race programme for our members to take part in as its been hard to cram in four distance races very close together on such a long radius so to make it fair we added a Newton Aycliffe race in the programme which is the 100 mile mark race for the first droppers and a 250 mile race for the far Enders so a extra race was added so on the 19/7/20.
At 9am convoyer Clarence Haymes got the birds away into glorious sunshine and blue skies with a north west helping wind all the way home for the birds all birds entered made easy work of this race which gave the birds sent more confidence with good returns reported ready for the Elgin and Thurso distance championship races that are just round the corner on the horizon so let’s take a look at the result and top dogs of the sections winning the amalgamation race and taking the first nine positions in the open and the north section was Kevin and Jane Lawson of Ollerton north Nottinghamshire with their widowhood cock team that consists of their famous Lambrechts and Herman Cuesters (the game changer dynasty) and a few Soojens and Van Loons in the team is sprinkled in.
