The South West of England Lerwick club

The South West of England Lerwick club held its 100/ 100 plus mile race point young bird race for its members from Ilkeston in the heart of the central Midlands on the 29/8/20 at 11am convoyer Peter got the race on its way into a North West helping wind from start to finish for the birds.

Corking the champagne bottle again and having a fabulous young bird season that keeps getting better just like the more Champagne you drink gets better is the A & R Smith partnership who top the Lerwick club plus also achieved 3rd, 5th and 13th open plus 1st, 2nd and 4th Sodbury Vale NRFC flying 112 miles with velocities of 1808, 1807, 1792 and 1762 their birds are a combination of Dave Smith Soojens, Dave Clarke Janssens and their own created line bred Frank Tasker birds that work together and are coming as a team for them.

2nd, 7th, 8th and 11th open club and 1,2,3,4 Brislington NRFC was Alan Meacham with his Dirk Van Den Bulks flying 119 miles doing 1807.954, 1782, 1772 and 1770.

4th open was J Cole flying 112 miles with a young grizzle cock doing 1802.

6th open and 1st Oldland NRFC flying 116 miles was Peter Allen with a young Bushart chequer cock that is of the famous Corbett Bushart lines and these ones for Peter originate from a Mr R Walker of Bradford West Yorkshire and have served Peter very Well with many winners being bred from them and also for fellow club mate friends his velocity was 1791.

9th open and 1st Thornbury NRFC was Dave Smith with a young blue Chequer Soojen hen flying 108 miles on 1771.

10th open was Dave Tyrer flying 112 miles with a young Bushart Chequer pied cock which was bred by Ron Booth of Bristol doing a velocity of 1770.

12th open was Steve Robbins with a young blue Van Lint cock that is already a previous Oldland club winner and top ten several times in the Lerwick club doing 1764.

14th open is P Hatherell with a Grizzle cock doing 1756.

15th, 16th and 17th open was the C & J Adams Brothers with their first bird a blue chequer Van Loon Hen their second a chequer White flight Road Hogg loft Gaston Vander Wower cock followed by a Coreman X Wall Lunt & Green Jansen blue hen with velocities of two birds falling into the loft together on 1755 then 1748.

18th open and 1st Bridgewater NRFC was Wesley Selway with a blue Dirk Van Den Bulk hen that was a stray and was bred by fellow club mate Jody McKay as when Jody gave his young birds their first training flight not far in a field from Wesley’s loft which is about 8 miles north for Jody this blue hen went into Wesley’s loft and would not ever leave it from that day on so Jody gave her to Wesley to keep she flew 139 miles doing 1745

19th open was Ken Whittingham with a blue cock doing 1742.386.

20th open was Jody McKay with a Powell Jansen blue hen flying 146 miles doing 1742.
