Enfield Continental Flying Club
This season down at the cabbage patch there has been a very low amount of Members sending, especially with Young Birds with only 10 members sending out of a possible 21 with some either sending in other Clubs that they belong to, or some even losing the majority of them training & then deciding to hold onto them for next year to race them as Yearlings. It’s not only happening here, it’s happening everywhere at the moment as you can see Online on Facebook, Pigeon Chat etc with people putting their Clubs results up with only 3 or 4 members sending due to losses, also as the Season goes on the sending members gets less due to their young birds moulting as the Darkness youngsters are in full feather and the natural ones can’t compete with them.
The first Young Bird UBI Combine race from Honiton soon arrived which the members would fly between 137-148 miles, with these being liberated at 7.40 in a South Wind.
Taking the top 3 places was Geoff Barker with a Blue Chequer Braspenning x Lambrecht Hen, The Sire being a GG Son of De Felle when crossed with a full Sister to Geoff’s 1st UBI Combine Falaise winner. This hen took 2nd Club Yeovil earlier in the Young Bird Season. Geoff’s second bird was a Dark Chequer Lambrecht x FVW Hen. The Sire being a Lambrecht & the Dam being an FVW & is the Last Daughter of Geoff’s 1st LNRC Berwick. Finally Geoff’s 3rd Club is a Dark Pied Lambrecht Hen, previously 3rd Club Lyndhurst. Peter Twyford takes 4th, 5th & 6th Club with a Red Chequer Hen, a Blue Hen & a Red Chequer Hen all from Peter’s successful Busschaert family.
Our next Young Bird race once again was from Honiton & these were liberated at 7.30 in a North West Wind. Taking the First 3 positions is Geoff Barker with a Grizzle Lambrecht Hen, the Sire bred by Mick Simpson of Tadcaster & is a Grandson of Champion Liam of Bill Duckworth & the Dam also containing the bloodlines of Champion Liam & is a previous winner of 1st Club, 9th Fed, 9th UBI Combine Honiton 2398 birds. The Dam is also a full sister to Steve Holloways “Pedro” & Manuel”.
Geoff’s next pigeon was a Chequer Pied Lambrecht Hen, a sister to 1st Club, 1st Fed, 1st UBI Combine Falaise, with 3rd Club being a Dark Pied Lambrecht Hen, a past winner of 3rd Club Honiton & 3rd Club Lyndhurst. This Hen once again contains the Mick Simpson Lambrechts with the bloodlines of Champion Liam of Bill Duckworth. Geoff also told me that he put a Young Bird into the Thames Valley Fed Breeder Buyer earlier in the season which was purchased by Bob Taylor of Southgate & this Young bird has now gone on to win 3x1st Club so far as well as winning them both £225. Fourth Club was Peter Glass with a Red Chequer Hen who Peter said was a Heinz 57. Finally in 5th & 6th spot was Peter Twyford with a Black Hen & a Blue Chequer Hen that are both Busschaerts.
On a personal note I have bred myself some late breds which I will try to train during the winter months so that I can send next year, whether I am living at my present address or if I have moved, I will then break them out. They are all Grandchildren of Mark Bulled’s Champion Legacy 1st NFC Tarbes & Darren Mcfadden’s Pau Princess 2nd BICC National, 2nd International Pau when paired to the best of Mark’s other bloodlines or Lee & Kevin Buddle’s BC, Amoy, Ray, Saffron, Elsa & Oasis bloodlines. I have added a photo of a friends little girl Grace who has taken a great interest in the Pigeons along with her two Sisters Jessica & Sophie who hopefully will end up keeping pigeons one day & to build up their interest I also took them up to Chelmsford to watch the UNC liberate which they were totally amazed at.
