Enfield Continental Flying Club Update 15-04-19

       Enfield Continental Flying Club

Update

Down at the Cabbage Patch we were preparing for racing and we bought ourselves a new shed with some of the money that we had raised in our club shows so that we had somewhere better to Mark our birds on race nights, as well as somewhere better for the storage of the Baskets. On the day of putting up the shed, Myself, Paul Stone, Steve Sheffield and Steve “McGuyver” Holloway had the shed up, as well as painted in next to no time, and a few days later we were back again to do the Roof, with Dave Dowling doing the Felting for us.

We have also had a few meetings and after the AGM, we are pleased to announce that we have another new Member by the name of Nicolae Ababei which takes us now up to 21 members.

We also had our prize giving for the 2018 season with a lot of the members scoring at least once or twice during the season.

In reverse order we had Doru  Burlacu with 1x6th. Then Mihai Piper with 2x3rds, 1x4th and 1x6th. Chris Vachos with 1x2nd.

Algis Tiatauris with 2x2nds and 1x4th.  Jim Courtney won 1x2nd,1x3rd,1x4th,4x5ths,6x6ths. Billy Watkins 1x1st,1x4th,4x5ths and 2x6ths.

Club Chairman Paul Stone won  2x1sts,2x2nds,1x3rd,3x4ths and 1x5th. Club Secretary Steve Sheffield won 3x1sts,2x3rds,3x4ths,1x5th and 2x6ths. Geoff Barker won 3x1sts,2x2nds,3x3rds,3x4ths,4x5ths and 3x6ths. Runner up this year was Peter Twyford with 5x1sts,5x2nds,5x3rds and 2x4ths. This year’s highest prize-winner was Steve Holloway who won 5x1sts,6x2nds,4x3rds,4x4ths,5x5ths and 2x6ths.

Whilst all this has been going on with the Club, I have had a lot of things going on with my personal life, due to having to leave my home and move to another property and go from a 63ft loft to a 20ft loft, and have had a lot of help from fanciers to either help me move, or put up the Loft, so I would like to thank Steve Sheffield, Steve “McGuyver” Holloway, Dave Ramsay of Hazelmere as well as Paul “The Eagle” Loom from Wyboston, as well as Billy Watkins for getting me some timber.

In the next right up we will have our results from our first few old bird races from 2019, as well as learning more From Steve Holloway our highest prize winner from 2018.

Until next time

Take Care
