Geoff also took 14th, 15th, 16th, 18th & 19th Inter Counties Federation. Taking 4th place this week is Jim Courtney with a Chequer w/f Cock which is from Jim’s Busschaert Family. In 5th spot is Peter Twyford with a Chequer Pied Hen from his quality team of Busschaerts, which won Peter the Tommy Long Trophy when racing on the North Road. Finally in 6th Place is Bob Hutton with a Chequer Cock.
Bob Hutton 1st ubi combine in his first yb season since restarting this year
For the last race of our season at the Cabbage Patch we were at Carentan with the UBI Combine, which were marked on the Thursday Night at the Clubs H.Q. At the end of marking 7 members had sent 62 birds, and the weather for Saturday didn’t look to good. On Saturday i received the phone call from Dave Housden to say that the Combine had held over due to the bad weather, which was bad over most of the UK, and i would have been surprised if any libs would have taken place due to the poor weather. That afternoon i received a call from Club mate Steve “Willie” Williams to say that his North Road birds had been liberated at 11.45 with the LNRC from Sedgefield, and by their returns there were a lot of unhappy fanciers in London that day. Steve was one of the happier ones as he took 1st & 2nd in the Cheshunt Club, also 1st & 3rd station, & 9th & 21st LNRC. Steve said that his 1st pigeon was a Blue Hardy Kruger x WLG Hen and his 2nd pigeon was a Dark Pied Hen purchased at Lier Market. Sunday morning i received a Call from Dave Housden to say that the UBI Combine had been liberated at 8.45 with no wind given at the race point. This turned out to be one proper hard race, and any pigeon which returned on the day would have done well, with only 2 members returning their clocks, Bob Hutton & Geoff Barker.
Taking 1st Club, 1st Inter Counties Fed, 1st UBI Combine, is Bob Hutton who's hen has now been named 'Just Rose'.
"Just Rose" 1st ubi combine Carentan
“Just Rose“ is a slatey hen who was bred in May and did not have her first race until the Come Back race from Lyndhurst then had all the races so CARANTAN was her 5th race. The Sire is a Jan Loots which go back to Dave Murphy’s Jan Loots whose dam is an Amalgamation winner for Bob on The North Road. The Dam is from Club Mate Geoff Barker. The Dam of “Just Rose” is a Jan Loots, and is dam of 9 First Fed Winners.
In 2nd and 3rd spot, also taking 18th & 20th Inter Counties Fed, also taking 25th & 28th UBI Combine is Geoff Barker, with a Blue Chequer Lambrecht x Soontjen Hen, a previous winner of 2nd Club Honiton 15th Inter Counties Fed. 3rd Club is a Dark Chequer FVW x Lambrecht Cock.
The next 3 positions were taken by Bob Hutton with the 4th Club pigeon being bred by Club mate Paul Stone, a Jan Loots x Soontjen. 5th Club is a Geoff Barker Soontjen x Joop Koch, and the 6th Club which was bred by Terry ”Robbo” Robinson of Cheshunt who raced the famous Busschaert Cock “Motivator”.
As the season is now finally over, the show season will soon be with us, as well as the Epsom, Doncaster, Blackpool shows etc, as well as the start of the breeding season, hopefully that will all keep us all busy to next April when the next season begins.
Until Next Time
