Enfield Continental Flying Club - Update
Down at the Cabbage Patch our final UBI Combine race arrived which was to be flown from Carentan, and the turnout at the end of marking was pretty low with only 4 Members sending 24 birds. I think that this was due to some members being on holiday as well as their birds being well into the moult, also the weather forecast was not to good with the BICC even changing their race from Falaise to Guernsey. On Saturday morning i received the phone call from Dave Housden saying that the birds had been liberated at 8.30 in a West wind. In first place is Peter Twyford with a Red Chequer Busschaert Cock. Taking the Runners up spot, also third is Steve Sheffield with two Blue Busschaert Hens. Once again in 4th is Peter Twyford with a Blue Busschaert Hen. Fifth and Sixth spot goes to Geoff Barker with a Blue Lambrecht Hen who’s Bloodlines go back to the original Bill Duckworths and a Blue Chequer Joop Koch x Lambrecht Hen, who previously scored 6th Club from Lyndhurst.
The Combine was supposed to be the final race of the Season, but the Inter Counties Fed approached all of the Clubs and asked if they would be interested in a self supporting race to be flown from Lyndhurst which would not count for Federation honours.
For the Self supporting race it was a bit of a wash out with the club, as a lot of members said that they would be interested, but in the end only one member did, and he sent thru another club.

On the 19th of August the BICC held the first of their Young Bird / Any Age races and this was Flown from Guernsey. In this race Billy Watkins sent in both the Young Bird as well as The Any Age and ended up taking Provisionally 44th Open in the Any Age race with a Blue Cock with one from his Wells Fargo Family which contain the Bloodlines from Peter Wells from Dunstable.

Now that the season is over and the birds are in heavy Moult it is now the time to reflect on how the season went for each of us, My season wasn’t the best as I only had 4 races due to personal circumstances, but next season I will be looking forward to flying in the BICC, as well as competing in the Club and The Inter Counties Fed.
Finally to end this write up I would like to Congratulate a former member of ours, Jimmy Davis on his Performance in the second BICC race from Guernsey Taking 2nd Section 123rd Open. Jim used to race in the Enfield Club and he is also a past winner of 1st BICC Falaise which he won with a Louella Van Reet.
Thats all for now, Take care.
