Update
Down at the Cabbage Patch the 5th Young Bird race of the season arrived with a comeback race from Lyndhurst. For this race 12 Members sent 224 birds which were Liberated at 8.10am in a West Wind.
First past the post this week is Doru Burlacu with a Blue Chequer Van Loon Hen. This is Doru’s first win since he joined the Club earlier in the season and hopefully the first of many. In 2nd, 3rd and 4th spot we have the familiar name of Peter Twyford with a Blue Chequer Hen, Bred from a Daughter of the Combine Cock, winner of 1st Combine for Peter when paired to a Blue Cock which Peter bred for Don Stocking which won 2nd Combine Hexham then was given back to Peter when Don retired from the sport. Peters next pigeon is a Blue Cock, a Direct son of the Combine Cock, 1st Combine when paired to a Blue Hen, winner of 1st Club Lyndhurst and 1st Club Honiton as a baby in 2016. Peters fourth place pigeon is a Mealy Hen and all of these pigeons are from Peter’s successful Busschaert family. In fifth place we have Paul Stone with a Chequer Jan Loots x Soontjen Hen, and finally in 6th place this week we have Steve Holloway with a Blue Van Reet Hen.
Race 6 was once again from Lyndhurst were 11 members sent 204 birds which were liberated at 6.45 in a West South West Wind. At the top of the tree this week is Peter Twyford with a Blue Chequer Busschaert Hen, who took second Club the previous week. This Hen also won the Snowball for Peter. Second Club once again is Peter Twyford with a Red Chequer Busschaert Cock, who’s Sire won from Fougeres earlier in the season. Third Club we have Peter with a Blue Busschaert Cock, who’s Dam won 2nd UBI Combine when beaten by a loft mate. In Fourth place we have Billy Watkins with a Blue Pied Cock from his Wells Fargo family which came from Peter Wells of Dunstable. Fifth Club goes to Doru Burlacu with a Blue Van Loon Cock. Finally in 6th place is Geoff Barker with a Blue Hen from Geoff’s multi winning Combine family.
Race 7 soon arrived with a UBI Combine race from Honiton and at the end of marking 11 members had sent 142 birds which were liberated at 8.30am in a North West Wind. Taking the top 2 places we have Geoff Barker with two Blue Hens both Lambrechts.
Taking Third and Fourth we have Paul Stone with a Blue Hen who took 5th Club Lyndhurst earlier in the season. And a Blue Hen bred from a Direct Braspenning and a Jan Loots x Joop Koch. 5th Club is Peter Twyford with a Blue Pied Busschaert Hen. Finally in 6th spot we have Paul Stone with a Chequer Jan Loots x Tist Eyssen.
Race 8 with Young Birds was once again from Honiton and 6 Members sent 86 Birds and these were Liberated at 7.15 in a North East Wind.
First past the post this week is Peter Twyford with a Blue Pied Busschaert x Bob Taylor. Once again in 2nd is Peter Twyford with a Blue Hen Busschaert x Lambrecht a gift bird from Geoff Barker. Third Club this week is Billy Watkins with a Chequer Pied Hen from his Wells Fargo family. Taking fourth spot and Fifth is Steve Sheffield with a Blue Hen and a Slatey Hen both Busschaerts. Finally in 6th we have Peter Twyford with a Red Chequer Busschaert Hen.
In the next write up it will feature the last 2 Young Bird races which are the UBI Combine from Carentan and a Self Supporting race from Lyndhurst, also included will be 2 members who have scored well in the BICC and the BBC in the Any age / Young Bird Nationals.
